would hate to see Robbo go to AM. shithouse team. my guess is he and the club will want him to stay for another year to allow time to bed Kerkez in.
Following previous reports from The Athletic‘s Gregg Evans, corroborating Leverkusen’s interest in Quansah, Sky Germany‘s Florian Plettenberg has claimed “concrete talks” over a transfer. However there is “nothing advanced” at this stage, with “talks ongoing” and crucially “independent from the Wirtz deal” after earlier claims of a potential player-plus-cash agreement. Leverkusen are “focused” on Quansah, despite transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano naming Sevilla’s Loic Bade as an alternative. Clearly, Liverpool will not allow the 22-year-old to leave on the cheap, having tied him down to a new long-term contract in October. Evans reports that Quansah is “valued in excess of £40 million,” though he is more frequently quoted as being priced even higher at £50 million. Club sources communicated that via the Mail‘s Lewis Steele and Liverpool journalist David Lynch at the end of May, with the academy graduate described as a “genuine candidate for a departure.” “Few would have predicted it last summer, but Quansah is a genuine candidate for a departure in this transfer window,” Lynch wrote on his Substack. “The 22-year-old is wanted by clubs in England and Germany and is thought to be keen on securing more game time after a frustrating season. “Were Liverpool to reluctantly let him go, a valuation of around £50 million would have to be met.”
For Robbo it would have to be 25m - last year of his deal I know - but he's a team/dressing room presence. for Q it would need to be about 45m - I personally don't think he is good enough - but also homegrown and in a spot where we are thin.
If Robbo goes, does that mean we just rely on Tsmikas as the second choice left back? I would be really interested in selling Tsmikas also and signing someone like Hato who is a completely different type of left back and can also play centerback. With Frimpong so high up the pitch, that type of left back could offer more security in some situations. We also need a young centerback.
Robbo is gone the way stories are reading. and as much as we all love him - let's not Ignore the fact that he was pretty ropey last season. I don't really like Tsmikas - good in a pinch - but not a long term player. That said - stats show he's very solid. so I think we can survive with him as the back up, or as noted, sell him and buy Hato.
If Robertson leaves, Tsimikas will likely have the same role he has now, backing up Kerkez, playing 20/5 odd games or so. We can do more than ‘survive’ with him as backup, as we’ve done the last 4 years. I have no issues with that. I quite like his personality
who is the closest youth-team LB to breaking through? Kerkez + A.N. Other seems a bit light. (Joe can do a solid job at LB but I dunno what his future with us holds right now.)
Trent has said he's learned Spanish in the last few months. I think it's probably been a longer process.
The club would likely prefer Robbo off the books. They are paying a premium for Kekez. He's Prem ready. They are not expecting a 45 million full back needing time to settle in. Robbo himself knows this and its why he's happy to leave this summer. If he thought there was a chance he'd be first choice left back he'd stay another season.
I read this over on BlueSky and it's amazing how the clubs finances can be deferred and offset. I always tend to think in terms of Lpool must pay 100m this season for Wirtz when in reality these payment are stretched out over a number of years. Sounds crazy, but in 2025-26 books estimated net impact of #LFC signing Wirtz for £100m as TAA leaves is only £12.5million extra cost to bottom line/PSR calc Wirtz amortisation £20.9m + wages £12m* = £32.9m TAA saved wages £12m* + sale profit £8.4m = £20.4m (*exc any bonuses)
Bournemouth have agreed a deal to sign defender Adrien Truffert, 23, from Rennes, which will allow the Cherries' Hungary left-back Milos Kerkez, 21, to complete his move to Liverpool. (ESPN)
I'm not sure what, if anything it means, but yesterday the official LFC account on Threads posted several photos of Darwin Nuñez captioned only with "NUÑEZ, NUÑEZ, NUÑEZ!" It left me wondering if of it was a farewell post, but it appears to be just a post to mark his three years at the club.
Been traveling a bit and playing FM24 while in the air. Had great success with this formation and thinking a fluid diamond midfield might suit this team. Mo/Gakpo/Diaz would play as wide IF with the wingbacks overlapping. If we sell 2 forwards (Nunez and Jota are my preferences), would like to see more pace in the front 2. Yes - I’m walking the league.
It was either something to do with him signing three years ago today, or it being his birthday I can't remember I saw exactly what it was, but I forgot.
