Not necessarily true when they are 100m+ transfers, right?

Leverkusen are not negotiating with anyone else; Liverpool may be looking for other forwards, but no one as a direct substitute for Wirtz, they’ll still be looking at these guys afterwards; Wirtz is quite emphatic that he wants to go to Anfield. Therefore, and I’ll concede this is somewhat jumping the gun, therefore, done deal.

All they’re doing right now is finding their smallest, mutually agreed pain points. The biggest, most important driver here is the player. When TAA wanted out, he went. Same with Coutinho, Suarez, Torres and countless others at other clubs. Sure there’s horse trading, there always is, but it’s just a case of Liverpool’s ceiling finding Leverkusen’s floor.

How close is Florian Wirtz to joining Liverpool?
This deal has turned into more of a saga as the pace of the transfer has significantly slowed down, although it is clear that it will not come to a complete stop.

Wirtz is still expected to become a Liverpool player, something Honigstein confirmed when asked if he thinks he will join soon.

“Yes it is definitely happening, they are just talking about the last few millions and the structure, but it is clear Leverkusen and Liverpool will find an agreement,” he told talkSPORT.

“I think that was clear the moment Wirtz decided he was leaving Leverkusen, they of course asked for big money but Liverpool went into this knowingly.”

German football expert predicts what will happen to Florian Wirtz in 10 years as he prepares to join Liverpool

Liverpool have AC Milan star Rafael Leao on their ‘list’ of targets once they have deals for Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez sealed, according to reports.

Liverpool are on alert after Real Madrid have told both France international Aurelien Tchouameni and winger Rodrygo they are not part of manager Xabi Alonso's plans next season.

Liverpool have recently held talks with Napoli striker Victor Osimhen over a potential summer move, journalist Graeme Bailey has claimed.

Totally understand why the Wirtz transfer would take so long because of the size of it.

However, if Liverpool want to raise money on sales this summer, they are going to have to move more quickly and perhaps compromise on their price to get deals over the line. We are expecting any of Darwin, Harvey, Tsmikas, Morton, Doak, Quansah, Endo, Diaz (?), and Chiesa to be sold. I'm assuming we will have to raise money on sales if we want to spend more in the market this summer. They can't have every single negotiation turn into a saga if there is going to be time to get all the business done.

Amen. They can't diddle endlessly over fine points and get all the required deals done. Please make it happen. We'll take a collection up on BS to fund the final $43.50 for the Wirtz deal.

I think that Wirtz is a generational talent and one of those 'opportunistic' deals that crop up very rarely and a massive one too which has eaten up a similarly massive portion of the transfer kitty. He is simply too good to miss out on but even so I'm sure Hughes and co will be haggling over every pound coz we still have more business which needs to get done.
Once we start selling it'll be interesting to see how many are moved on in order to recoup some cash.

I'd be willing to bet that those players who the club plan to move on have been put into the shop window... My guess as to why we haven't heard anything is because no one has proposed a deal that is deemed acceptable to the club and/or to the player. At a certain point, you have to have an interested party to move forward Hughes and Co. may be beating the bushes as much as they can, but simply don't have anything to work with yet.

    what's this - some good news? :D

    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...sfer-news-bournemouth-kerkez-truffert-rennes/

Bournemouth have agreed a deal for Adrien Truffert, the Rennes left-back, in a deal that is expected to pave the way for Milos Kerkez’s £45 million move to Liverpool.

Truffert, 23, has agreed personal terms over a deal to the Vitality Stadium and will undergo a medical later in the week, Telegraph Sport understands.

France international Truffert is expected to cost around £15 million and his place in Andoni Iraola’s squad will be as a like-for-like replacement for Kerkez, who has been a long-term target at Anfield.

Arne Slot has already added Jeremie Frimpong to his Premier League title-winning squad and also wants Florian Wirtz, his Bayer Leverkusen team-mate from last season. Kerkez has been identified as a player to compete with Andrew Robertson at left-back.

Kerkez is expected to move to Anfield after he was permitted to leave the Hungary squad for personal reasons. “Milos Kerkez left the men’s A-team training camp in Telk for private reasons, so he will not travel with the team to Baku, the venue of the match against Azerbaijan,” the Hungarian Football Federation said in a statement.

The club will have told each of those players agents "please find your client his next destination."
Gone are the days of clubs fielding phone calls. This is why we pay so much in agent fees.

Darwin, Harvey, Tsmikas, Morton, Doak, Quansah, Endo, Diaz (?), and Chiesa all could leave, but I don't think we'll see all of them leave.
    Darwin, yes.
    Tsimi, yes.
    Chiesa, yes.
    Morton, yes. But on loan.
    Doak on loan.
Diaz, Quansah, and Endo I fully expect to be here unless we get crazy money.

so we have a starting midfield using 3 of: Mac - Grav - Dom - Flo - Curtis.

any 3 of them will be fantastic, and 2 of them getting regular rest will be huge.

    roll on the 2025/26 season!
