Liverpool have offered Bayer Leverkusen's Wirtz a contract worth more than £320,000 a week as they look to wrap up a deal for the playmaker. (Sky Sports Switzerland - in French), external Liverpool and Newcastle are set to battle it out for Brighton's 23-year-old Brazilian forward Joao Pedro. (Talksport) ---- if we get Wirtz in, this won't happen in a million years. Nottingham Forest are considering a move for Liverpool's 22-year-old English defender Jarell Quansah. (Football Insider)
I think they're asking 30m for Pedro. That's the cheapest of all the forwards I've seen us linked to, so I believe he's the most likely purchase if we get Wirtz. I think LFC has finished spending on infrastructure and will now concentrate their money on players to dominate the PL and win the CL.
I know they re-purchased Melwood, but would be great for further investment in the women. Need to figure out a solution for a stadium too. I’d love to see them pushing for CL
This is shaping up to be the summer we hoped if Covid didn't happen. Win a title, have a quality manager, still have the core of a brilliant team - and then add to it instead of sitting still. obviously, Covid threw a spanner into the works, especially in terms of finances and losses. but this summer, we are identifying key positions and apparently have laid the groundwork for the past several months or longer. Winning the title is probably the push that gets most of these deals over the edge without much difficult difficulty instead of a long drawn out battle. The other thing that is interesting is that we might have about 100 million in sales to offset whatever we're doing this summer. Add in not renewing Trent which is expensive - we could end the summer at a net spend of 60m! That's just brilliant if so. Even if it were a net of 100m I'd say it was a brilliant summer (if we get an attacker and a CB).
Seeing reports now that LFC have agreed personal terms with Kerkez and are scheduled to meet w/ Cherries about how to structure deal. I wonder if we will actually go after a forward in this window. If Nunez is the only one out and we play Wirtz as a false nine we’d still be pretty well stocked with Gakpo, Diaz, Jota, Chiesa, and Salah - assuming we don’t move along one or more of those folks. We’ve also potentially got Doak and/or other youngsters that could be brought into the senior team.
I think we'll go for a 9 , a clinical finisher next with Nunez and probably one of Diaz or Jota also moving on.
