I don't want it to happen.
The huge transfers like that don't tend to workout.
If he were to go to citeh, I'd be worried in Pep's system - he could be David Silva on steroids.

But here? Don't know how well he fits.

I'd rather sign Cherki and another attacker.

If Slot does deploy a three-at-the-back setup next season, Adam Wharton is a player Richard Hughes should consider making a move for.

Liverpool are stepping up their interest in RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko with Darwin Nunez expected to leave this summer, according to reports.

if ... IF .... he comes to us it would be a big step towards Slot stamping his style on the team. tactics and some player assignments/roles would need to be tweaked to accommodate a player of his style.

I think this guy is worth it. This reminds me of when City got Haaland. We just sat that one out and let them get him. We got our own version of Haaland which was Nunez.

There are other less expensive players in this position, but I think Wirtz is another Haaland. He’s the guy to get. So let’s go get him.

We could have also signed a less expensive defender than Van Dijk and goalkeeper than Allison. Sometimes you just gotta get the man, and it’s expensive but worth it.

Where does Darwin leave to? Is that Saudi offer still there? That could be an easy 100m.

Links with Joao Pedro. Do you guys rate him? He strikes me as a Firmino kind of player but Salah needs help scoring. Not sure if he's the guy for that.

Wasn't Haaland already done to city behind the scenes?

Not saying we could have got him. Just that getting the next best thing doesn’t always work out.

Yes - much as I love Trent - I think this may actually work better for next year aat least for Salah finding space.
    Also -
Keep Harvey for 1 more year as a Salah #2 version, and along with Bradley this will give us lot of Right Sided legs....

he was never going to be a starter ahead of Fernandino, De Bruyne and David Silva was prob the main reason

Haaland woudn't have suited Klopp's team. Say what you like about Nunez, but he was a good match to a Klopp pressing team......

I really liked Joao Pedro as a potential signing earlier in the season when he was in great form. I think he could do a lot the things that Slot would be looking for in a number 9. His form dropped off and now he was in a fight with his teammate so I don’t think his stock is as high. I’m still intrigued.

Seems like a dickhead though - which we tend to not want in the team.

    Yeah, let's review:

€85MM that Barça don't have for a 28 year old backup LW in Diaz.

Meanwhile, the current starting LW, Raphinha is putting pen to paper in a new contract, and his acquisition cost to add to this roster is €0.

The mid-priced option is 6 or 7 years younger than Diaz, is some €30MM cheaper, and as a Spaniard, Nico Williams already knows, likes, and has chemistry with pretty much the entire Barça roster.

Gee, I wonder if this "rumour" is bullshït or not?

Both Ali and VvD were established, best in class players.
Is a 21 yr old who has only ever played for one club that level already?
How do we accommodate a pure #10 and Mo? Mo is our chief creator. Does he give that role up to Wirtz? Who does the running for two players (unless the stats contradict what I've seen and Wirtz is a pressing machine in hiding)?

If we're spending 100+m on someone, give me Isak.

I would just trust that Slot has that figured out if he’s ready to have the club bid 150 million for him. We already know a lot is going to be different about the way we play next season because of the fullbacks we are getting.

One thought I had is that Wirtz could replace Diaz in the team on the left side and mirror what Salah does on the right. They would both be the creative forces in the team from either side, have pacy attacking fullbacks outside of them, and a new number 9 in front of them.

Or alternatively, Wirtz can play inside as almost a false 9, and we could sign a left winger that is even more of a goal threat than Diaz.

Or you can just drop Szoboszlai or Mac Allister and start Wirtz as a 10 in our current three man midfield. Wirtz is not just a flair player, he known for his pressing and covering a lot of ground.

Hes 22 years old but has been in the Leverkusen team since he is 15. He carried them to a league title in league that’s only ever one by one team. He is just as well established as Allison and Van Dijk were before coming to Liverpool. The fact that he is younger is a bonus.

If you can’t tell, I’m all in on this. Probably too much so because I’m going to be majorly disappointed if it doesn’t come off.

That's the interesting part about Wirtz - he can probably play 3 positions equally well?

There does seem to be a lot of heat on this Wirz transfer news this last week. Not sure whether there is a lot of made up noise, but if it is true that Edward’s and Hughes are flying to the US to get approval to pursue the negotiations then there does seem to be some belief that there may be an opening. I still think it’s more likely that Bayern end up with Wirz unless they’ve played too many games trying to lowball he and Leverkusen (which is entirely possible).

Tips, I'm amazed you say that - have you seen Isak's injury record? you of all ppl should be sounding the "stay-away" alarm.

    Silly idea IMO.
Alvarez had improved - but why would Diego Simeone want to swap for Darwin????
    well, because....

    Nunez is better than him.

Again, sell him to Arsenal. A primary objective should be to see that Arsenal do not get a striker they can win the league with if we can stymie that? Correct? Where am I incorrect with this - if the sell brokers among club and fans are correct?

Either buy Isak or keep Nunez is my option.
