Congrats to Australia. Hope the organisers have learnt from the mistakes of this tournament. I would like to see more straight up knock out matches. Where is the next WC?

Major letdown. Going into the tournament it looked like it would be a real tussle for the title between 3, 4, maybe even 5 countries. Aside from the upsets in the group stages, I've got to say that's quite possibly the most boring World Cup I've ever seen. From the Super 8s onwards, the whole thing was a snoozefest.
Quite frankly, as far as planning my viewing on late nights was concerned, I lost interest after the group stages. And where it should have been more compelling for me at that point, it wasn't. And that's no way to run a championship tournament. Hell, it might have been the most uncompelling, boring world championship I've seen in any international sport ever -- and here's hoping it doesn't happen again anytime soon.
So was attendance considered good or bad? The article is potentially very misleading because it doesn't compare average attendances, and I'm presuming there were a lot more games in this World Cup than past ones? What were the averages at previous WCs?
I think the main problem was the fact that there was no lighting at any of the grounds which meant they couldn't play two games a day, which would've quickened the Super 8 part, and still allowed both games to be shown on tv with a day game and a day/nighter. And also this lack of lighting caused such a farce for the final. Maybe the super 8 section should be split into two groups of four, meaning they only have to play three games in stage 2, after the 3 games in stage 1. Then the top two teams in each group play the semis & then the final. That would be much more streamlined.
In any event, or even "at any event", to be literal about it, a per-match average of 8,500 -- as the article in the link states -- is nothing to write home about, and there is definite room for improvement to be had. Just out of curiousity, anyone know where the next Cricket World Cup is taking place at, and when?
That's certainly a flaw with the Super 8's stage of the competition, but you can't fault Australia as winners, because by remaining undefeated over the course of the entire competition, they deserved it. In that respect, the ICC definitely dodged a bullet there.
I'm pretty sure its in India in 2011- which means they shouldnt have any problems with crowds. Honestly- even in 'sports mad' Australia with the sheer number of games, and some of the teams competing, we wouldn't have had huge crowds at a lot of games either. Obviously, the big games involving Australia would've got 100,000 at the MCG, which would've padded out the overall crowd figures and overall averages, but I doubt if they would've got more than 5,000 in Australia to some games such as say Bangladesh vs Kenya,
I think all four subcontinent teams are co-hosting in 2011. Then Australia is 2015 and I think England in 2019.

The World Cup will be held during the months of February and March 2011. The semi-finals will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Pakistan, and the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The final will be played in Mumbai, India.
All the teams like India, Pakistan, England, West Indies, South Africa (maybe New Zealand too?) have got themselves to blame for playing third-rate when it really mattered, and not raising their standard. I was most disappointed with South Africa's scandalous semi-final performance, considering they came into the tournament with a no. 1 world ranking. To see a batsman of the caliber of Jaques Kallis leaving his off stump exposed unprovoked, when they were not chasing a target under pressure, the whole thing was simply incredulous. In the general cricket talk department: There is too much disappointment and disillusionment everywhere about the state of worldwide cricket, with a third-rate entity like ICC governing it. Maybe one-day cricket as we know it will die very fast, and be replaced by Twenty20. What troubles you about the ICC's running of the game? Well, who cares. It's all over with now and I'm sure the ICC haven't learnt anything from this WC, won't take any advice that isn't money driven, and won't make any changes.

My country Bangladesh had a good (Except that defeat against Ireland. ) WC. Otherwise the whole WC was a pain. the management was aweful.Also the dominance of aussies are too much.
