Mitchell just posted an update to his blog:
    http://blog.dispatch.com/crew/2010/03/crew_reserves_3_notre_dame_2.shtml

goals from Renteria, Schelotto, and Elenio

Interesting news about Frankie. And concerning to see yet another GK injury. Hopefully Schoeni is indeed fine.

I think whats more important is the fact that another defender is already injured and its not even April. Danny O is going to have to slide back in the D line this season. Gino and Frankie are too old and Chad and Jed are too fragile to last an entire season.
Plus, on the bright side it destroys the idea of a Danny and BOC CM pairing that we all hated last year. If Moffatt keeps shooting like he did last night thats a big step in an improved offense. Last years biggest (one of) problems was that we had NO ONE who would pull the trigger outside the 18. That certainly wasnt the case last night.

So the two time defender of the year isn't reliable enough for you?

Sucks that so much defensive talent is on the mend, but step back from the abyss for a moment. I'm reasonably sure that in, say, June of 2008, you couldn't have found more than two people in here who'd have predicted that Gino was going to ever wear a Crew jersey as a starter again - since he'd been injured for pretty much the entire first half of the season - much less play the rest of that season and 2009 injury free.

Or how about pre-2008 when there were many mental giants in here predicting the end of Chad's career because of concussions.

Chad has a leg muscle issue that'll keep him out several weeks. Zayner tweaked a knee and will miss about the same length of time. If it's your goal only to sign player who never get injured, well, good luck with that.

Hard to argue that Frankie and Gino are getting old. So, of course, getting a starting wide back would make sense. But this is MLS we're talking about. We have neither roster or cap space to make meaningful changes to the roster. Let's just see what happens with these injuries, none of which are long-term, thankfully.

Chad is a great defender, Im not questioning that. What I am questioning is his durability. 2008 Concussions, 2009 Knee, 2010 Hammy so far. He only played 15 games in 2009. So durability is certainly an issue.

And by "He only played 15 games in 2009", what you really mean is that he played in 22 games in 2009, right?

But hey, why worry about facts when you're in full Crew-don't-have-a-chance mode.

All statistics posted on bigsoccer automatically have a +/- 47% disclaimer. I'm surprised a member that has been around as long as you have didn't know that.

Zayner was a revelation last year. I'm sure he'll bounce back. I do wish he were ready to go next week, as being able to push Danny to CB by adding Jed would help us a bit.

No reason to sweat a couple of preseason muscle strains and knee tweeks. It's going to happen when pros try to get game ready. Or in Chad's case try to go all out to find a way to make a world cup squad.

Getting drunk at 8am for a reserve match is so much fun! They even opened up the bathrooms for this game what a plus!

Yeah, they usually use different goals for games not involving the USNT or regular "full" Crew side. Even if there's another game at CCS before the Crew game, such as a HS game, they'll often use those goals.

Good to see the team is getting in some reserve matches. It has to be tough since the reserve league was disbanded.

Schoeni played just fine after the injury.
Good times, . . . they will have to be duplicated again in the future. Too bad we cant always play the Irish

You are spot on, though some may only be looking at MLS games. Marshall played in 22 overall, 18 MLS Reg. season, 2 playoff, 2 CONCACAF.

More importantly, many of the games missed were because of Nat duty in the Gold Cup and other call-ups.

The idea he missed half the season because of injury is just plain wrong.
