Crew vs. Revs. poll (Game 1) R Ok, time for another chance to vote on your game prediction. I believe the score with the second most votes has been correct the last 2 games. Have at it Sticky - Toon?
With the news of Llamosa being suspended for this one I am in in good spirits. But I still only see a tie for our boys in game one, which isn't really a bad result.
We saw what happens when we screw up on the road (read into this the Naperville fiasco to end the season). I truly think that NE will not be able to keep up with our scorers. Kamler is running on borrowed time and will not score for the rest of the playoffs. We are going to stuff (hack?) Twellman into tomorrow. However, Harris is the person to be scared of. When is the last time he has been remotely effective?? Wolde is due... A scoreline of 5-4 would not be surprising. But I gotta go with the 2-1 victory since that has been treating us nice so far in the playoffs.
Thanks, Toon. Boston weather forecast is 60s and partly cloudy for Sunday. My guess though is that they let tomorrows rain onto the pich to take away some of our speed advantage. No llamosa... This should approach the early pace of the SJ game (track meet) which will help our deeper bench dominate the last 10min.
Revs 2 Col 1 Speed, shmeed. Seriously, should be a great series. If you guys don't mention chowda, we won't mention cow-tipping. Good Luck.
Oh yeah. 2-1 Crew. Twellman gets his obligatory goal with 15 minutes to go which effectively removes what I have left of my finger nails.
For what it's worth, Llamosa has been our least necessary starting defender. You could make a strong case that Pierce has been much more effective in the middle than Carlos, so if anything, our defense could be stronger with Llamosa out.
The leading score line in the previous 2 polls has not been correct (no big surprise); however, the 2nd highest total vote getter has been correct BOTH times. As of 10:45 game day the 3rd time in a row prediction would go to 2-1 Revs. Admittedly, this is not a terrific statistical database, but we'll see whether the #2 prediction (so far) overpowers the newfound Crew optimism. Boston weather looks good for a fast paced game. Can our boys grab the 2nd away game victory? The Revs will not be as overconfident as SJ appeared to be (IMO) and the crowd will be pumped. It will be important for us to bring the game to the Revs in the first 20min to keep the crowd calmed and believing their team has done it's best and it's time to end the season. McBride vs. Kante appears to be a key matchup. If the ref can keep Kante from hammering on McBride, or McBride can drag Kante away from the center of the D we have (IMO) a much better chance. Llamosa knew McBride's game well, Kante doesn't and the Rev's resurgence looked to be closely correlated with Kante's acquisition solidifying their central D. He's another T-bone and, with he and Llamosa in the center, the Revs became a defensive force to match with their acknowledged goal scoring prowess. This should be an excellent game IF the ref can control the intimidational hacks and persistent fouling early (chicago style trash ball). Predictions: JC gets Pierce a card early in the game. Hernandez tries to beat McBride into submission early. MadDog McCarty shuts down the other forward (name escapes me) and Duncan becomes new best friends with Twellman (goodbye Landon). Martino starts in the middle to disrupt the transition game and Mais has defensive responsibility for Hernandez. Crew wins 2-1 and the poll's string is broken. My next post is shorter.
