Well, it's Wednesday night and nobody has yet begun to think about our game this weekend? I don't believe that. Well, in case you've been living in Madagascar for the last year, we're playing in Dallas on Saturday night. I'm currently watching the Dallas - SJ game. Seems like a pretty wide open affair, but then again, it's like watching a pinball machine when watching a game at Spartan Stadium. Fortunately for us, the Crew won't be losing anybody for the US-Poland match, however the Burn will be losing Cory Gibbs for the match. Depending upon the kind of yellow card Simo Valakari picked up, he might be suspended for caution points (according to Dave Dir). I'm hoping we can keep up the kind of form the team had against Chicago. We're in a great position with a few games in hand. We can easily take control of the East with a string of good results before the All-Star Break. Hell, with the right results, we could be atop of the East after this weekend. GO CREW
That little dude peeing never gets old. It's great. So, I got some bets that their keeper, Cassar, is going to crack during this match. The guy always looks like he needs some freaking sleep. Either that or he's on one too many drugs..
Threadjack: What is the current job market like in sunny Madagascar? Plenty of adventure tourism jobs?
Couldn't start this thread because who knows what to call Dallas now'a'days. I think GE is going to take his experience in SJ and the "Burn" tradition and name the team "The Clap." At least that's what I'll always call them. Fu(king Clap Dallas. As for the Crew, who knows what we're going to see out there. Are the Crew going to play like they did against Syracuse or against the Fire? What I'd like to see is: --------------Busch------------------- Herdsman-----Fraser--------Marshall ---------Elliott----Lagos-------------- Hejduk-------Martino--------Wingert -------Cunningham-Buddle------------- If Herdsman and Marshall can't go, then put Oughton and Akwari in there respectively. If Hejduk still can't go, move Wingert over right, put Lagos on the left and slot Paule next to Elliott.
07/08/2004 12:52AM Burn roast Quakes on Hawaiian Night MLSnet.com Staff Eric Quill scored his first goal of the season and added an assist Wednesday. (Rick Yeatts/MLS/WireImage.com) A save on a penalty kick in stoppage time by Dallas Burn goalkeeper Jeff Cassar -- just a few minutes after Simo Valakari struck for the go-ahead goal in the 89th minute -- gave the Dallas Burn a thrilling 2-1 victory Wednesday against the San Jose Earthquakes at Spartan Stadium in San Jose.
loss of gibbs and the finn proves to be the straw that breaks dallas' back. columbus 10:0 dallas in a sensational crew performance cementing this team in the mls record books as an incredibly massive side. the dallas fans will come to understand why i say jeff cunningham is a bad man as he nets 5 against thier pathetic excuse for a team.
This is what makes me nervous. We come off our best performance in months and it was after a makeshift lineup was put out there. Now with the history of our training staff who knows of Marshall, Hejduk, or Herdsman are really ready to go? At this point I'd almost be okay if none were and we threw out the exact same lineup we did against Chicago. I mean If we insert these three back in the lineup we could be looking at another period of the team re-gelling. Who knows. I didn't watch the dallas game last night as I had my head on the bar. I watched the last twenty minutes against KC last week and its hard for me to believe that team that played KC would manage a 2-1 win in Spartan. But, still its tough for me to know what is going on with Western Conference teams since we split up into conference playoffs. I was more keen to give a damn about a team like Dallas if we were fighting for the same playoff positioning as they were. The Playoff system as it is now give me next to no reason to follow Western Conference teams. Thanks MLS. Regardless, like the kraut said, we are in great position to make a move to the top of the East by the all star break. Talent wise the burn is a team we should beat. They are also gonna be on there third game in a week. I see no reason why we shouldn't win this one 2-0.
I don't care about that stuff, I am just gonna live in a grass hut and fish. Actually I believe there has been civil disruptions there for a while, supposedly not safe to go if you are not educated about the island.
It's a tough one: how do you even think about fiddling with a lineup that played maybe the best game a Crew team has ever played? At the same time how do you keep a healthy Hejduk and Marshall on the bench. One thing's certain - if there's a way to screw it up, The Druler will find it.
Walt's article on CSN makes it sound as if Hejduk may not be ready and we'll get to see more Wingert.
I wouldn't believe that. CD101 is part of a massive liberal media bias. Honestly, if Frankie plays, great. If he doesn't and Wingert does I am definately not as nervous as I woulda been a month back.
I absolutely agree. If Frankie starts, great, if not, give me a little more of that Wingert action. Hopefully the team plays with the same understanding and determination that they had last week. I'd love to go into Big D and take home 3 big points. I feel pretty good about it, that's for sure. Ideally: Busch Herdsman-Fraser-Marshall Paule-Elliot Hejduk-Martino-Lagos Cunny-Buddle Now, if here is the info from the MLSnet match preview: INJURY REPORT: DALLAS BURN - OUT: FW Bobby Rhine (R knee MCL sprain); GK Scott Garlick (R ankle sprain); FW Eddie Johnson (L ankle sprain); DOUBTFUL: MD Oscar Pareja (groin strain) ... COLUMBUS CREW - OUT: GK Matt Jordan (L ankle sprain); DOUBTFUL: DF Frankie Hejduk (R ankle sprain); QUESTIONABLE: DF Chad Marshall (L knee strain); PROBABLE: DF Stephen Herdsman (R knee sprain) INTERNATIONAL ABSENCES: DAL: Cory Gibbs (USA; July 11 v Poland) SUSPENDED: DAL: Simo Valakari (through July 10) YELLOW PERIL: CLB: Eric Denton (17 CP) I still never heard why Lagos was kept out last week. Did I miss it? Was he puking at the stadium again? Anyway, given the info above, I would put this lineup out there Busch Oughton-Fraser-Akwair Paule-Elliot Winger-Martino-Lagos Cunny-Buddle Not only does this keep Denton off, but maybe you can sub him in with 20 minutes to go and clear out the yellow card peril.
I just spoke with someone who went to the practice this morning and according to Craig Merz, the line-up in Dallas will be the same as it was vs. Chicago except Chad will be starting instead of Nelson. Herdsman isn't even traveling. Didn't hear anything about Frankie. Hopefully the person I heard this from is right(except for the Herdsman part, I'd like to see him back).
According to DB on matchnight, we're going to see: ------------Busch------------- Oughton----Fraser-------Marshall --------Paule----Elliott-------- Wingert----Martino-----Deadman --------Cunny--Buddle--------- With Baumstark, Scott, Lagos, Hejduk, and Akwari on the bench. So we get the privelage of seeing Deadman flub all his passes and disrupt all flow on the left for another game. Hopfully he'll pick up a yellow card and then I won't have to watch him next game. WHY NO MANNY LAGOS ON THE LEFT? I THOUGHT YOU BROUGHT HIM HERE FOR A REASON?
My exact question as well. WTF Greg? Is somebody just not reporting a nagging injury or that the arthritus has set in after the surgery or what. I thought he was supposed to be a vital role for this team. To have Denton starting over him is simply insulting.
I think that should be his nickname. He definitely is a peril for the guys in yellow when he's on the field. Can we get him a couple of minutes on the field to start the match so that he can pick up a yellow and get himself suspended for the next one? Then sub him out or Lagos.
What Greg said: "We brought him in to help on the left side." What Greg meant: "We brought him in to help on the left side of the bench."
"The Yellow Peril". That's awesome. It says just about everything that needs to be said. That's a fantastic bench. Much better than what we usually see. I hope its true. Scott deserves to be ahead of Ritch and Testo.
