Crew 4 - 0 Dayton Crew second-stringers held most of the possession. 1st Half: Jake (Traeger?) scores off a weird deflection 2nd half: Maze scores on a header Dante beats the defense and the keeper and scores on an open net Other guy (I think his name was Ryan, hw was wearing a number 17) scores on a one-on-one with the keeper Notable absences: McBride, Hejduk, Martino, Buddle, West, Andrulis Notes: Freddy Garcia put it over the crossbar at least 5 times. Warzycha played for most fo the 1st half. Dunseth won at least 15 headers in the middle of the field. McCarty appeared to be playing right midfield in the second half. Cunningham and Clark were the only two Crew guys there who didn't play. Presthus played the 1st half, Busch played the 2nd and neither was tested.
im sorry, but that's ridiculous. there's no reason dante didn't get some farewell minutes last weekend.
Any note on how any of the UD players looked? I have a few guys I coached that are playing for them...
The Crew dominated possession. Dayton was able to put together a few nice passes when they did get the ball. But I don't recall any stellar plays, and none of their players stood out either. There was a guy over on my sideline that was absolutely owned by Chad McCarty.
Do you perhaps know the lineups? That would be most appreciated....that or I could just poke you till you tell me!!!!
I certainly don't know Dayton's, but I'll do my best to give you the Crew lineup: 1st half: Presthus Jake-Dunseth-Akwari (Torres and McCarty were in here at one point, too) Garcia-Maze-Oughton-Diego Warzycha-Dante 2nd half: Busch Jake-Dunseth-Akwari McCarty-Garcia-Maze-Oughton-Diego Dante-Other Guy (Ryan?) I might be wrong about who was playing exactly where, but I'm positive that these were the guys who were on the field.
And Hristo isn't going to be punished by the Filth either... http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A34135-2003Mar26.html
However, Major League Soccer is investigating Stoitchkov's tackle and expects to announce its findings in the next few days. United Coach Ray Hudson said he would prefer not to penalize Stoitchkov, one of the world's most accomplished players during the 1990s who is finishing his career in MLS. "I would probably have a tough time hitting him with any sort of official reprimand because of the competitive nature of the game," Hudson said. "It was not a deliberate, premeditated act. There was a flash point and a rash reaction. His pride has been shaken and he is remorseful. He has learned his lesson." Said Dave Kasper, United's technical director: "I believe it will be a league decision. Obviously, we will have some input." Hudson said Stoitchkov, a player and assistant coach, will travel with the team to Charleston, S.C., today for an exhibition against a minor league team Saturday night. Although Stoitchkov received a red card for his tackle on Tuesday, it's unclear whether he will have to sit out Saturday's game. Red cards usually are accompanied by an automatic one-game suspension, but because the match against American was only a scrimmage, that rule might not apply.
