The various politico types are expecting $8m to be pumped into the local economy this weekend via out-of-town visitors. (NBC4)
https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2023/12/06/mls-cup-2023-columbus-crew.html Interesting Business First story on the impact of having the MLS Cup Final in CBus. One statement in the story caught me off guard..."Los Angeles fans are expected to represent about 40% of the game's attendees, according to the Greater Columbus Sports Commission." I wonder where the Greater Columbus Sports Commission received this info., from MLS maybe?
Maybe the league sponsors who didn't resell their tickets have a heavy prseence in LA? Back in 2015, adidas sent a delegation to the cup, which came from their US headquarters in Portland.
Confirmation from ticket rep that express entry won't be available Saturday, since this is MLS run. Download those tickets!
Columbus Commons will have the game on their giant screens for people who want the outdoor experience.
Bone hinted on the Bone and Beam united podcast that entry may be a little different on Saturday. I'm not sure if that means the plaza is closed like for the USMNT games or if there is a different security process
Which year was it that Everclear did a halftime concert at the old stadium? I want to say it was pre-stage.
It was definitely pre-stage. They played in the south end sort of under the stands. We could barely see them from our seats.
We used to sit where the stage would eventually be. There were a few other acts that were on the south side but struggling to remember. I dont even remember which game that was with Everclear. Was Bowling for Soup another random band for a halftime show?
I just paid through the nose, but I don't care. My son and I will be there. Now I can start thinking about the game itself like everyone else. And now I'm realizing that it was less stressful worrying about tickets. 4-1 Crew, with goals by Cucho, Matan, Rossi, & CR17.
It was due to flares. Restricted privileges this weekend. https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/mls-statement-on-los-angeles-football-club
