Unless I'm mistaken, with this MLS Cup, the Crew will equal the highest number of times a team has hosted this game (3). We're now tied with the LA Galaxy, who hosted it three times in the years right after MLS switched from having the match at a neutral site. After we win, we'll be alone in 3rd place in terms of most MLS Cup victories (the Gals have 5 and DC 4; right now, we, Seattle, Houston, KC and San Jose all have 2).
Actually, we have hosted 4. We just were not playing in 2001. By City/Stadium: 1) LA = 8. Galaxy home (6), BMO (1), Rose Bowl (1) (Pasadena). 2) Columbus = 4. Crew Stadium (3), Lower (1). T3) DC = 3. RFK (3). T3) Toronto = 3. BMO (3). T3) Foxborro, MA = 3. Foxborro Stadium (2), Gillette (1). T6) Seattle = 2. Lumen Field (2). T6) Frisco, TX. Toyota Stafium (2). Edot: I get you are only counting times when the host team was playing.
And Arace seem to have missed this point. He thinks it's only 3. Of course the new gal though HiR started when Cincy joined MLS...
As I said elsewhere, supposedly we were going to be gold, except for gold fabric being really expensive. For whatever reason, we never switched, despite having multiple rebrands.
Yeah, that's correct. And again, unless I'm mistaken, there seem to have been only two instances during the MSL Cup at a neutral venue era where that "neutral venue" happened to be the home stadium of one of the club's appearing in the game: DC @ RFK in 1997 and New England @ Gillette in 2002. Of course, we're also the first host team to have played MLS Cup in two different home stadiums.
Of course the big question I have is, do we wear the full banana kit on Saturday? In other words, is this going to be a yellow vs. black game? I'd think that MLS wouldn't allow us to do yellow tops and black shorts if LAFC wears black. I have no inside info, but I also assume the league would prefer that LAFC play in their preferred black, instead of their white second kit. All yellow works for me.
Sounds hideous let’s make them wear it . I say wear Black and it’s their problem if they don’t have a white or light colored kit that isn’t ugly
This isn't going to be one of those situations where if the other teams scores, we have to play music and the PA guy has to sound excited, is it? "League" event?
And 2020, though I did convince security I was allowed to bring in my megaphone. If needed, I'll step into duty, but only if Connor can be on the stand with me.
