Since this thread was brought up, I have something to ask/throw out there. Does CSU have a separate account for tifo and displays, or is all the membership money put towards mostly road trips and merchandise? I wonder if it would be feasible to have a separate account, or set money put aside, for tifo throughout the year? If its a matter of not having enough money, why not raise the membership dues a couple bucks per person, do some fundraising, etc? Just wondering
For those not on the social medias: We're thrilled to announce the new home bar for Crew Suppoter's Union is 4th Street Bar & Grill! 4th Street's a newer bar that opened in the fall at the corner of 16th Ave & 4th Street and is located less than a mile from Columbus Crew Stadium. This decision was unanimous when we pulled together a group to solicit feedback from members, so we think everyone is really going to love this place. More details at the link.
We will still be focusing on the tailgate before matches, this just offers another option for people. They actually have a carry out there for people that want to pick up beer on the way to the tailgate. We do hope to get some good crowds there post match, especially for the first two home games that start at 4pm. Their carryout:
To the Union officers: Never been to this to place but it looks great. Solid decision, fellas. Nice work.
FYI, the links on the Crew Union site don't seem to go to the 4th St page. This place actually looks pretty cool, though. I'll try to talk the 317 into it after NYRB game.
Yeah, webhost appears to be having issues. The site only went live last week. I'm trying to get the info on the draft beers and specials so I can repost it, but the guys just sent over a few pages of their menu:
Live right next to the place so I was ecstatic when CSU named it their away game viewing bar. Probably there 1-3 times weekly. Good food, good atmosphere, and good selection of beers on tap.
Here's the draft beers, if you can't find something you like then you'll never be happy. Also, most of these are $4 or less at full price. 1-12: Bud Light 4th St. Ale (red ale) Goose Island 312 Sam Adams Nobil Pils Honey Brown Rogue Dead Guy Ale Budweiser Goose Island Seasonal Bells Two Hearted Ale Bells Seasonal Newcastle Victory Golden Monkey 13-22: Labatt Blue Light Magic Hat #9 Blue Moon Sam Adams Winter Lager Brooklyn Lager Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale Sierra Nevada Pale Ale Stella Artois Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale Magners Irish Cider 23-32: Abita Turbo Dog Columbus Brewing Company IPA Abita Purple Haze Great Lakes Burning River Lagunitas IPA Troegs Hop Back Green Flash West Coast IPA Elevator Dopple Bock Young's Double Chocolate Stout Guiness
Awesome choice for an official bar. It might be cool to try an coordinate a combined march over to the stadium with HSH a couple times this season.
Great job Kevin and John. Owner seems to really want it to become Crew Union central with those amazing discounts. Its enough to make that my new bar of choice for sure.
Appreciate all the positive feedback guys, can't wait for everyone to check the place out. Lots of opportunities coming up to do so: 2/22 - Come out after the match, it's half price drinks 2/26 (or 2/27) - CSU general meeting in the early afternoon 3/1 - Crew @ RSL - half price drinks 3/19 - Crew @ DC viewing party 3/25 - 5th Annual Crewsmas Eve Party 3/26 - Crewsmas Hoping to get a lot of people out to 4th Street prior to Crewsmas Eve, but that's going to be our real kick off event for the place. First planning meeting with 4th Street and The Crew set for Thursday, it's going to be bigger and better than ever.
We're trying to finalize what the benefits are, hope to have available soon. Will still be $20 this season.
We'd like to and we're discussing those logistics, there are obviously challenges (ex. person prepays for tickets then picks them up at bar, person at tailgate would need to know). We'll need additional help with selling tickets to do so.
Went there last month and was really impressed with the staff/service and obviously, the beer selection. Great choice by CSU, can't wait to hit it up before and possibly after the game on Wednesday!
The Lakers game is Tuesday. I have heard nothing about tickets, or 2011 membership. There is nothing on the website, or here. I suppose someone will say this got announced the same way the new bar did: everybody knows all about it, except neanderthals who don't facebook.
