We will be having a general meeting Sunday at Claddagh following the Carling Cup final. Brad Friedel and Aston Villa take on Manchester United at 10am and then we'll have a meeting afterward (about noon) to talk about this season. We'll talk about some new changes the Crew have made for supporters this year (GA seating!), unveil our new scarf and shirt designs that members will get and discuss a few organizational changes including introducing our new executive board. Hopefully a lot of you can make it down to the pub for the meeting as well as some soccer and beers.

Also, the Bradd will be in attendance. I am planning on making the trip down.

Anyone know how long this meeting/party/gala is supposed to last? I have another meeting that same day/time, so if the CSU shindig is a bit longer, there's a chance I could put in an appearance towards the end.

I don't think the meeting will be longer than a half hour or so, though I could be wrong if people are really talkative. As far as hanging out and drinking, no idea.

Will we be able to officially re-up for 2010 at the meeting? See, I’ve got this money allocated for CSU and if I have to hold it much longer, I might just drink it away.

When someone gets a moment, can we get a run down of the Union Annual meeting?

    • There will hopefully some bi-lingual ushers to avoid some of the language barrier issues we've had in the past.

    • The front office is not supposed to sell tickets in 101, 142 or 141 as they are supposed to go through the supporters groups.

    Road Trips - Kevin

    • MLS did us no favors in our schedule this season. We're currently evaluating our options and talking with the other groups whether we will do buses for NY and Philly. Count on buses to DC, Chicago and TFC.

    CSU Organization - John

    • Executive Board
      • The executive board will help provide guidance to the CSU leadership. This is part of the effort to make Crew Union a stronger organization that will continue to be successful for years to come. The initial members of the executive board have all been involved in CSU and it's previous incarnations for several years, but for various reasons have not been able to participate as actively in the organization in recent years. This is a way for us to keep these valuable members involved in the organization.
      • Members
        • Steve Abreu
        • Kevin Hughes
        • Matt Morgan
        • Graham Randall
        • Michael Saad
        • Scott Wittler
    • Opportunities for Members
      • We are looking for some members that would like to become more involved with the group. We have a few things we're looking for, but these are ideas and we're open to suggestions if you have something you're passionate about and want to take on. Most of these are things we haven't had time to do or been able to give them the focus we'd like. Also, we're not looking for a major time commitment on any of these (unless you want to and that's fine too).

Just to piggyback what was said about needing people to help out, I've got a need as well and unfortunately it does invole a bit of a time commitment. With myself and MrsHardHat leaving Columbus for Nebraska at mid-season, I am needing someone to take over then handling of the lower banners (the ones in front of the sections, as Thoma takes care of the upper banners). For a normal 7:30 game, this person would need to be at the stadium by 4:30 at the latest to meet the FO rep to go in and hang the banners. It normally takes about a half hour to get this done. After the game, taking them down is quicker but if it has rained, you'll need to have a place to hang them so they can dry and not have the colors run or have mold and mildew grow on them. Also, if you cannot make a game, you need to be able to find someone to take your place, as not having any of the decorations is completely out of the question.

If you're interested in this, please shoot me a PM.

    Mike

Speaking of lower banners, this is the new and improved MASSIVE banner. Do what you like with the old MASSIVE banner.

Excellent stuff. This thing has really come far over the past 2-3 years and i'm pleased.

The "General Admission Seating by Section" seems like they're meeting us halfway. It has always seemed to be "general admission seating" throughout the entire Nordecke. I guess what i'm thinking (out loud) is that I can still see the same mindset of "sit wherever you'd like policy" happening. Will the ushers actually check tickets to make sure that someone enters only into the section they're assigned to?

The "Supporters Only" entrance on the west side of the stadium is a great idea.

I do like the idea of bilingual ushers. It's something that (along with the supporters entrance and GA tickets) that was needed a few years ago.

    ----
"The front office is not supposed to sell tickets in 101, 142 or 141 as they are supposed to go through the supporters groups."

Exclusive discount on individual league match tickets

    * Normal day-of-game ticket price for section 101: $26
    * Non-member ticket price for section 101 bought from CSU: $20
    * Paid-member ticket price for section 101 bought from CSU: $17

"Not supposed" to doesn't read the same as "won't" in my mind, especially when the next bit reads "bought from CSU." It does imply that the FO would sell tickets, but only in rare circumstances. I'd imagine that the vast majority of people in 101 would be season ticket holders, or buy through CSU.

If the FO does sell a ticket for the Nordecke, I can understand that. Hopefully, they all get the same written script that they'd read. A written script would go a long way, so that every buyer hears the exact same warning, no matter which FO rep they buy it from.
