Is it me or is it comical they cant play clips of it and expect fans to go find the song themselves to hear the clip. Wow
There's a website (almost a blog but not really) I've been following since maybe 97 or 98. Back around then, the guy got in trouble for linking to copyright material. He had to remove all links, including to stuff he created off his own inspiration. You'd think the team's website person could throw up a YouTube link to the band's official account, but apparently not. Copyright can be dumb sometimes. For a while, BigSoccer was cracking down on users who would post whole articles, even if a link was posted. You're supposed to put a link and then put part of the article in quote tags. Other websites don't even blink if a user wants to copy-paste the whole thing without a link.
Legal said we can’t play or link to the songs Pepas, Cup of Life (Eclipse 2014 WM Remix), or Booyah. But Cucho sure enjoyed them 🤣Make sure to vote so you and Cucho can vibe out when we score at home!— The Crew (@ColumbusCrew) February 14, 2023
Yeah, you’re not supposed to post or quote whole articles. Although posters here in Crewville are pretty good about not doing that. I can only think of one time the poster needed a PM about that.
I honestly hope I run into JW at a match or some other event this season. I’d like to give him a piece of my mind about the logo. And what bothers me equally as much if not more is his cavalier attitude about it that he’s stated in public and tweeted about the logo. Very tone-deaf and off-putting.
Yeah, I hesitated when I typed “cavalier,” but I left it in. Glad I could pitch that softball right down the middle of the plate for ya!
With all the local musicians in the area, you'd almost think there'd be someone local willing to make a goal song. It's not like they don't have a lot of local brands already in the stadium or anything. Oh wait. They do. And that's even if we need the canned jock rock.
Good lord, man. I’d rather drink Keystone Ice out of a sharps container than drink Market Garden. Yellow Springs I would like to try though.
Some hockey teams have each player pick a goal song for when he scores. Maybe that would be a better route.
I was thinking this same thing. Didnt know if it was anything they would actually ever do. Im sure the players would love it.....but im willing to bet that the front office has their own ideas of what they want the stadium/gameday experience to be, and it probably isnt having fans hear whatever Cucho and Zelarayan happen to personally like. Also, the obvious solution is Yellow Swag by Shawn Bandz In all seriousness though, picking music seems like an easy way to add something "local" to the game experience. There has to be something by an artist from around here or at least from Ohio we could use. Better yet, if someone could actually create a song for us, even if its just a lesser local act thats still decent.
What's the team's legal theory that they can't link to official sites for songs? That's not a copyright violation.
It's a completely random guess, but if they link to a non-official account, then RandomUser1212 potentially gets money for that click...and that's what "they" don't want to see.
I would nominate “Howlin’ for You” by Ohio's (Akron's) own Black Keys as our goal celebration song. [Cucho scores a goooooooooal !] [Fans go crazy] [PA starts playing the lead-in to the refrain] “Baby I’m howlin’ for Crew!” [Crowd chants in unison]: Da dah, da Dah, Da Da dah, da Dah, Da Da dah, da Dah, Da Da dah, da Dah, Da !!
Earlier in the month, we were discussing what to do pregame and postgame. Well...changes are afoot! Good changes, if I say so myself. https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/nordecke-2023-thread.2124218/#post-41187819
I like this. It's super simple and plenty of people would know the song. Those who don't know it will pick it up quick.
Don't know that song in particular, off-hand, but I tend to like me some Black Keys when I hear it. Make it so!
I keep waiting for all those geeks who kept insisting a while back that the team should adopt that wretched Coldplay song. Maybe they're all yellow.
