I've not seen anything that shows a construction timeline for Astor Park. That CBF article says that "BBI will move from 80 E. Rich St. to the new building during the first half of 2024." I have seen info that states the building is suppose dot be completed by late 2023. It seems to be the first building of the commercial/residential buildings that's scheduled to be finished. Anyway, I'm guessing it'll be a while.

The area is going to be mostly a construction zone for the next 1-2 years, so I doubt the parking garage will be open much until other buildings that need the parking start coming online. I wouldn't be surprised if the garage starts to get used for Crew games and other events at LDC before then. But I also would expect that it'll be more for VIPs than the public.

If rent should be 1/3 of pay, divided by 12 months, that’s about $1,525 per month, presumably for a one bedroom apartment, probably around 600-700 sq feet.

Probably part of the deal with the city to get infrastructure paid for, etc.

When Columbus developers or the city council say affordable, they mean $900-1300 dollars for a one bedroom. The developers could have an early bird offer on the lower end of that range like some apartments in Franklinton, but that will go up each year.

To me, unless you are a huge CBJ fan or work right downtown, apartments in Grandview or Italian Village are more desirable.

And only 300 square feet (that's the size of the rooms in old motels up my way that they are trying to turn into apartments).

Affordable housing and low income housing aren't quite the same thing. The latter is usually subsidized in some way and is for poor people. The former is for middle income people.

So they're not really trying to import poor people into the Arena district.

Low income housing is a term translatable to Section 8 housing, a federal program administered by HUD for which you qualify based on the relationship between your household income and the median income for a given MSA, something like below 50% IIRC.

Essentially it means that the taxpayers are paying your rent.

Could we have a section of the Nordecke carved out for neighborhood unhoused folks?
The guy that’s always sitting under the RR bridge seems to be taking a liking to the team.

The company that is moving into Astor Park is moving because they are getting a bigger tax break than the current one the company gets. They have to employ more people, but I'm not sure the taxing entities enforce that.

That's happened with the Huntington and their old building on Morse: they moved in and out of it and then back in and later out again--tax breaks.

Yep, parking for 2 months of Quarter Horse was more important. The Crew joined with the city to expanded and redevelop Kilbourne Run Sports Park near Morse and State Rte 3

Anyone think the Capys eventually end up at LDC (or yet another training facility) full-time, the OHPC gets turned into the AQHA HQ, and CCS becomes the world's fist quarterhorse-specific stadium?

The rumors are that the high school football championships will be played there. They use a different building on site for equestrian activities. Don't see it happening soon.

I don't think the AQHA will be happy with the reduction in parking for horse trailers. Tough to park one of those in a garage.

Sounds like the Crew won't have enough practice space at the fairgrounds under the new plan.

They are not taking any space away, not sure what you are referring to.

How do you figure? The OHPC isn't affected.

Weren't the Crew looking to have the academy teams at OHPC under the sports park plan? David Kerr said the various youth teams would put a beating on the first team's grass fields and I thought the team also wanted an artificial surface field as well.

So under this plan, they will have to make do with what they have now. Has the surface in HCS been made artificial yet? Plus 2 grass fields outside.

The park and additional fields at the fairgrounds was killed like 5 months ago

HCS has been artificial since the fall of 2021. Bubble is being put back up like this week.

I'm guessing the AQHA will be well taken care of.
There are three exterior grass fields, two heated.

The larger sports project has been relocated to this site, 12 minutes from HCS:

The only thing they're losing is any hope of expanding, but that was a very remote possibility anyway.

Unless Lowes goes under, which seems unlikely.

    Basically the team is landlocked.

Where are the academy teams now?
