tOSU experienced the same kinds of problems with new systems that we saw at LDC. Apparently they're really really stupid too. Or maybe new stuff sometimes needs a shakedown period and customer familiarity. No, that can't be it. I'm sure.its.just the stupid thing. https://www.10tv.com/mobile/article...P_QX98hPlmtHgK0SBsk9-x-weud4C0RFhiDisx_9gz4vo
Partly it's that the "New Thing" (TM) is always promoted as wonderful and perfect and the best thing that could happen*. So when it inevitably isn't, thanks in part to Murphy....well.... *Mind you, the facial recognition deal is pretty darn good--but even there, Murphy has had his say.
The exact same issues at Cardinal Stadium were the lead story this week on the news down this-a-way in Luhvul. Being understaffed with a wonky new contactless POS leads to long lines and massive complaints to local sports radio.
So being from England I am naturally a football (soccer If I have to I suppose) fan. I had not been to any games in the US since moving here in 2004 due to my location. 2 years ago I moved to the area (about 2hrs from Columbus) and well then the world fell apart, now it is partially put back together I decided that maybe it was time to check out "The Crew". I think you have a pretty decent stadium, a lot easier circulation than some old stadiums I visited in England back in the day. Entry and egress was pretty easy and having available parking conveniently located was something I appreciated coming in from out of town. For all those complaining about the concessions I have never understood the need for refreshments during the game. I can manage 1hr 45mins without needing to stuff my face (maybe if they had meat pies and a cup of tea though....), but at stadium prices they must make decent money. By the time Columbus put in the 2nd against the New York Redbulls I was going nuts so I guess they are my team in the US now, and I will be back for the game against Cruz Azul, and I will probably make it a semi regular thing. Making everyone sing wisemen before the game is stupid. The atmosphere at the game needs to spread to the whole stadium to make the experience. That is what should differentiate soccer from other sports in the US. And I do not mean that everyone needs a drum to pound on but some chanting or singing that encompasses the whole ground a few time a game would be great and let the Nordecker do its thing the rest of the time. I would give my night out an 9/10. Interested to learn more about the Club and its culture.
a) No one is the slightest bit offended if you call the game football. Be our guest. Most people agree that Wise Men before the game is utterly stupid. The management claims that the players requested it. Nobody believes them. b) I'm very happy that you had a good time. Next time there's what they call a Megatailgate, there are some fine gentlemen here who would be delighted to meet you and stuff free beers in your hand. But if a guy offers you something called Malort, tell him no thanks you've got all the paint thinner you need. c) The culture is simple: the people who run the league hate us, always have, and tried to kill us not long ago. Maybe you heard about it. But we mostly have such bad attitudes that if I were them I'd probably hate us too. d) Columbus is the greatest team the world has ever seen.
Ohio State attendance is 75,500 today. Stand by for the Pat Murphy tweet about how Columbus won't support the Buckeyes
Keep playing like shit like they are today and it'll make sense to not support them. Damn good thing Henderson showed up today. Michigan is going to win this year.
I know a few long time ticket holders who were angry at having to pay for a quasi psl on top of these prices. Add in changes to the tax code, and boom. Maybe osu needs Jim Smith back.
Put a shite opponent on the field, charge outrageous prices, in the middle of a pandemic, and only 25k central Ohioans wised up enough to not go??? Yah I paid face value for my tickets and screamed like an idiot for 3 hours.
My alma mater went through that same thing a number of years back. One reason I don't have season tickets anymore.
I went to the game. Primarily because I could get a pair in A Deck on the 40 for $90 (with fees) via resale.
No upper 15 rows on east side available for Cruz Azul and nothing available on west side. Guessing they are trying to hide the lack of interest from the TV audience for next week.
I saw this yesterday - I reached out to someone to see if they had actually sold those tickets or if they were hidden to create scarcity. Since I've stopped attending large events with my wife being 7 months pregnant, I thought this might be the game to go to since attendance will be next to nothing. Hoping those tickets aren't actually sold so I feel safe attending.
