You're making my case for me. If we sign a player like those this window, the people who will have to make renewal decisions in October will have a chance to see them and maybe have some hope. They'll feel less like fools for buying Crew tickets for 2019. If we wait until next year, we'll be writing off a lot of people and it's much easier to keep a customer than attract a new one.
But IM already said they aren't coming this year, so answer the question as regularly constructed, not your own fantasy make believe question. And the amount of STMs we have now is constant, it's only hardcores. If they will buy the tix when the team is certain to relocate (at the time) why would that change now. Shit team is better than no team.

My info has spanned multiple ownership groups, front offices, and coaches. Life, I mean info, finds a way.
There are roster slot limitations on DP players. You can't just cycle through them the way Sigi did with typical MLS players. It's like buying and selling expensive houses. There are fewer options to pick from when you're looking to buy, and there's a whole lot fewer potential buyers out there when you're ready to sell. You have many more options for average priced houses.
The Crew don't have anyone on the roster who could be considered expensive. Accam or Higuain (or maybe Zardes after his new deal) are our highest paid players. Any of them could be easily dumped if a better alternative came along. If your point is that we don't want to pay a $10 million dollar transfer fee then find out the guy hates it here or isn't a good fit for MLS, etc, then fine. In that case we'd sell him back where we got him, probably take a loss and keep looking. At some point the guys we're paying for are expected to produce. If they don't, then find new guys. It isn't that tough. I trust Bez to find guys who can play.
This news is more devastating than when I heard Edson Buddle was traded. Note: I was not a fan of Buddle.
