From MLSnet: COLUMBUS CREW Jan. 30 – Feb. 15: Training in Columbus Feb. 16 – Feb. 27: Training in Portugal Feb. 28 – March 2: Training in Columbus March 3 – March 13: MLS Spring Training (Boca Raton, Lynn Univ) March 14 – April 4: Training in Columbus Matches: March 8 vs. D.C. United (Orange Bowl – Copa Carnaval) March 10 vs. MetroStars
I'm assuming that this was done before the announcement of a first game in Panama on the 12th. I'm guessing that they may play the MetroStars game with reserves, then leave for Panama on the 11th to play DAU on the 12th and travel straight back to Columbus on the 13th; or cancel the game on the 10th, head south early before heading back on the 13th.
I think it is a horrible idea to play 3 games between the 8th and 12th. I mean, the game on the 12th is the most important game of the 3, so I would certainly cancel the game on the 10th so the guys are better rested for the game in Panama. I want more hardware, not more spring training BS.
San Jose is facing a similar schedule as Columbus with an exhibition match scheduled for March 10 (against Chicago). Unless these teams know something we don't, like the first leg of their CONCACAF series isn't March 12, I don't know why they're messing around with exhibitions.
Is anyone going to the game against the Riverhawks? Are they playing on a standard indoor field? 6v6? I was thinking about going but wanted to know if they were playing 11v11 or 6v6 or whatever.
What about the charity game at Obetz for that cop who got run over? White or something. When is that?
Unless little Landon starts pouting about playing too many games in such a short period of time, in which case one of those matches will "disappear."
probably during the first week of april.. usually the week before the crew's home opener is all that stuff.
