If we play like we did back in April, at least we can cope by binge eating on the chocolate. For anyone making the trek west, check out the link above. Pretty cool, let's you literally hand pick your seats in the stadium similar to airline check-in.
Re: Crew @ RSL: Eastern Conference Semis, Leg 1 - SATURDAY 10/31 6:00PM EST im a bit suprised that we are not the late game on saturday, say NE/CHI at 8 eastern, and us to follow at 10 eastern.
Re: Crew @ RSL: Eastern Conference Semis, Leg 1 - SATURDAY 10/31 6:00PM EST The University of Utah has a home football game at 8pm so I guess this was a compromised time.
Re: Crew @ RSL: Eastern Conference Semis, Leg 1 - SATURDAY 10/31 6:00PM EST You are the late game Saturday. The Chicago-NE game is at 3.
Re: Crew @ RSL: Eastern Conference Semis, Leg 1 - SATURDAY 10/31 6:00PM EST I guess MLS wanted to get all their games over before the trick-or-treating!
Re: Crew @ RSL: Eastern Conference Semis, Leg 1 - SATURDAY 10/31 6:00PM EST Need to keep that game respectable. RSL is the best playoff-team at home, and the worst playoff-team on the road. What is there to hate about RSL? I need some motivation! All I conjure up about them is that they've got a cool stadium, decent colors, and a few likable players and a coach who helped me win some fantasy leagues back in the day.
At least we don't have to play at Rice Eccles. That's probably as important a variable as any in this game.
A Second Leg thread has been started, let's keep the home game discussion there... https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1215285 Use this one for the first game, this upcoming Saturday in Utah. Poll is on its way...
I like how the poll closes after the game is played. I'll wait to cast my vote (that will never be counted).
During the season the two results between RSL and the Crew were 4-1 and 3-1, respectively. Both results favored the home team. I see this series playing out the same way. Both teams are the best home teams in the league, and I see this series being two great games. Additionally, both teams suffer from the Jekyll and Hyde syndrome: they can play an amazing game one night, and lay an egg the next game. Which teams will show up on Saturday? The good ones, or the egg layers? Should be a good series.
Is anyone going or does anyone know of anyone going to SLC for the match? I just checked prices for flights and it comes as no surprise that they are not cheap. Anyone got any lines on cheap airfare?
Delta has a hub in SLC, so maybe check from Cincy to SLC? Maybe going hub to hub will be a bit cheaper? Also try flights out of Dayton.
Heading into the match with Colorado, RSL actually was in just as bad of a winless rut as we are currently in. They are 9-1-5 at home, we are 9-2-4 at home with those two losses being the most recent home games. The key to this series is to survive the first leg. The momentum is all for RSL to take.
Re: Crew @ RSL :: E.C. Semi | Leg 1 - Sat, 10/31 - MERGING FYI, both MLSNet.com and NBC4 are reporting kickoff at 6:30 PM.
Let me get this straight . The Crew have the best record in the league and they play the worst team in the league. The Worst team in the League plays at home on Saturday. The Best team in the League play on Thursday. What am I missing. Where is the Advantage other than playing the last leg. That is classic the classic MLS Oligarchical BS. Next thing you Know , Brad Freidel , Brian McBride and Stern John will play in the EPL and we will get nothing.
And this is news how? In a two-legged playoff, that's the advantage. You get the deciding leg, as well as the potential extra-time and penalty kicks at home.
if Bob says we are going for the win in Salt Lake, then we are going to lose that game. Bob has had his teaching through CCL that you don't go to an opposing teams building in a high level competition and try to win. you go to stall, play chippy, drag the match out, and to come away with a draw. if you say so and your tactics do so, you can even come away with a shock win. see Columbus at Saprissa. RSL is in a 4 way tie for the most red cards this season at 8, and they have the most disciplinary points this season of any club. in high pressure situations like the playoffs, any turbulance, such as antagonization and physical play, can rip apart a a volitile player's mentality like a loose flap of steel on a NASA space shuttle. we should focus on needling the cracks in RSL's disciplinary record by antagonizing Mathis, Espindola, and Olave, who have one, one, and three red cards respectively. even Kreis has like 2 red cards. if i am Warzycha, i want to verbally and subtly antagonize Jason Kreis in the press and in the game in order to unbalance him. over time, he will become frustrated and then who knows what he might do. if Kreis loses control, then his team will definitely lose control. this is their major weakness. it must be taken advantage of. i've said it all season.
Well, I'm not confident in our ability to beat anyone right now. We simply do not create enough quality chances from the run of play. RSL 2-0. I think the only way we have a chance is if Gaven, Ekpo, or Guille play as a CM (Gaven or Ekpo in a 4-4-2 or Guille in a 3-5-2). Otherwise, we can't score. And I don't see RW adopting such an aggressive formation away from home. Lastly, this gem from Mitchell: ONN will join the Crew playoff game IN PROGRESS, after the conclusion of the Miami (0-8) vs. Toledo (4-4) football game. Ouch. http://blog.dispatch.com/crew/ Alternative watching options to ONN?
if we play physical, defensive, and strike on the counter, then we will get our set pieces. you can win many matches on set pieces alone. especially on away days.
