"One surprise at camp has been Steve Lenhart, the kid from Azuza Pacific," said Schmid. "He just keeps working. Whenever you think you can forget about him for a second he's back in there snapping at your heels and he's scored some big goals in training. "

We don't need no stinkin' forward, right? We have the kid from Azuza Pacific. Don't get me wrong, I hope the kid ends up being a good player, but I would much rather see a proven goal scorer getting compliments right now.

"One surprise at camp has been Aaron Chandler, the kid from San Fran," said Schmid. "He just keeps working. Whenever you think you can forget about him for a second he's back in there snapping at your heels and he's scored some big goals in training. "

"One surprise at camp has been Dayton O'Brien, the kid from Memphis," said Schmid. "He just keeps working. Whenever you think you can forget about him for a second he's back in there snapping at your heels and he's scored some big goals in training. "

Like ********ing clockwork every year, by midseason these guys have been cut without even a minute played.

True true, I believe Chandler was the leading scorere in preseason last year. So it does not mean anything

One thing you can say about Crew fans--we've mastered the art of lowered expectations.

Anyone else find it amuzing that if you just insert anyone's name they could be on this list? He says the exact same thing about each kid..

Well, it does say something about this kid. Would I rather they be talking about Ronaldinho or someone like that? Sure. Does it mean he will compete with Angel for the scoring title? Probably not, but something is better than nothing.

"Yeah, that kid from wherever, he doesn't run very fast and has yet to complete a pass, but he does a good job of putting his shirt on, well, usually."

Ugh. Shawn reports "Andy Iro is still getting used to the pace of the pro game and is 'a little bit behind' in his fitness" and the Crew are at ground zero on DPs. Either the trialists aren't standing out or Sigi wants to keep it a secret. Well, at least a couple more trialists are coming in next week.

That must have been about a two minute conversation between Shawn and Sigi. Sigi spewed the typical crap: the rookies are looking good and we're getting more trialists next week. So, what happened to the three Brazilians and the Nigerian? Will someone try to keep the fans in the loop? I really, really don't give a crap about a kid from AP that's not going to see a minute on the field and will get cut about 2 months into the season.

Hey Friedel and Stern John worked out so Friedli and Avery John must be good candidates for the Crew. It seems to work for Ohio State with all the Wells they've signed the last 10 years or so.

I don't think that necessitates an "ugh" so early. C'mon, it's his first training stint; such comments are pretty common about draft picks in every sport.

The same comment was made about Chad Marshall and he has never been fleet of foot.

On the other hand, if the Crew can seriously upgrade Andy Iro's fitness from what it was in college, they might be able to turn him into a monster. However, I would have much preferred to hear that he was much faster than previouly thought.

Similar comments about adjusting to the pro speed of play were made about Jason Garey.

The bottom line is, he is probably just too slow.

I'm surprised to hear Pierre-Louis is in camp, I thought he was going to finish his degree.

Apparently Friedli was let go from FC Thun because he talked to the police and media about players involved in a sex scandal. The translation makes it a little confusing

It may be that he has not brought in the intesnsity that Sigi expects. Its not secrets that if the intensity is lacking in practice the doghouse awaits. Sigi was burned by a young discocery player "Memo" who played with the Galaxy for a few years before he washed up. Had extreme talent but lacked the intensity. I think Sigi learned from that and watches for that effort in his practices from his young players.

On a different note-it would be nice if the Crew would webcast some of these scrimmages. Its not expensive and would be a good thing for the Crew fans wherever we are!

Is anyone covering these scrimmages or do we have to wait a week for crew.com to post the results?

For real! What's the deal?! I hate sitting here in wonder of who's playing how who's playing, tactics, etc. This is a minor case of BS. This is a top division club and no coverage? Here we are trying to get hyped up for the 2008 season in any slight form or fashion. Oh I forgot, we're an "entertainment" club now:mad:

I was hoping to find more details about this scrimage in your thead here, but this is what I know....

According to the KC Wizards blog: http://hillcrestroad.blogspot.com/

The boys played Columbus this morning, falling 4-0 in a game separated into 3 30-minute periods.

Will Hesmer has begun a blog on TheCrew.com. Well done so far!

Shawn is doing a good job keeping us up to date as well. The news stream from Crewland has never been better.

Nice to hear the Crew scored 4 goals. Be nice to get some info on this from the Crew rather than a KC website.

Will you calm down. They said on the KC blog that information will be posted on the Crew website later. So, just chill out, have a beer, take a nap, go to church tomorrow, work a couple of days and the information will be there by then.

First post of the Hesmer blog is not too bad. Hopefully he will give us the answers he promised.
