You may think that when a team like, say, the Scum is bringing in players from South America by the planeload, and re-signing guys like Jaime Moreno, that they're actually improving their team to a level we aren't going to be able to match. And you may compare this to, say, the Crew's off season, whereby they've lost one of their only foreign starters and have yet to make even one significant acquisition, and think that our team is really in trouble. How foolish! Nothing could be further from the truth. Why at this very minute we've got a couple of NAIA forwards working out in Lewis Center. Take THAT, Scum fans!
Looks like Danny Z is supplementing his income by teaching his patented "I just signed with an MLS team face" Martinez must have taken the advanced course.
when i saw this, i just couldn't resist. http://www.facade.com/yesno/ my q. will the columbus crew make the playoffs in 2008? low n behold, my answer. Yes!
Sadly you are only half right, we only have 1 NAIA forward at this time (our very own cabbage patch kid Steven Lenhart), the other, Rico P.L. to join them in Florida next week.
I thought RPL was back at Lee trying to finish up his degree w/ Sigi's blessing? He's going to make it to FLA now?
actually, the climactic end of the movie ends with them merely making the playoffs (so i guess they win the division). i'd take that
RPL is finishing his degree. So he won't be with us until like middle of May. Great opening day strikers will be Brad Evans and Jason Garey, lol.
I'm moving to Denver in the next few months for a new job. I think Colorado might be one of the few teams with a worse chance of making the playoffs than Columbus. It's one thing to cheer for a team, like Columbus, for whom you've always cheered, win or lose. It's another thing to move to another city and try to cheer for a team that is completely unexciting. UGH.
Why Crew are better than DC United: Crew haven't lost in the Playoffs since 2004 and have allowed ZERO goals. DC United has lost 3 Playoff games since 2004 and allowed EIGHT (8) goals!
Look, I'm as impressed as anyone that DC went out and signed five freaking players. Still... - One of them's a keeper. Which is irrelevant - Another one's too short to ride the roller coasters at Cedar Point. - One's a replacement for Gomez. At best, that's a wash. - The other two, we'll see. That, and am I the only one here who thinks Jaime Moreno is way past his sell-by date? If we sign Zurawski, we can compete with DC. I'm not saying we're a better team, but buying all those new players isn't any guarantee they'll pan out. Gallardo has big shoes to fill in Gomez.
Which explains why they went and got five new players. They're not allowed to ever, ever lose to the lowly Crew or more heads will roll. Someone prepare a Hitler movie about DC losing to the Crew... just in case.
