Chris has a lot of quotes in this article : https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/hell...olumbus-crew-embrace-ohio-vs-everybody-spirit
What line up will FCC put out on the pitch Saturday? I think the Crew will continue to keep Ramirez and Gressel on the bench. But Nancy could definitely switch it up. When we waxed them 3-0 at home we didn’t have Rossi and we started both Gressel and Ramirez as well as Yeboah. So honestly nothing is out of the question.
Good article. Quotes from Sirk as well as LaMacchia. Chris showing more class than that Broo guy from Cinci--he can p!ss right off! And they're the Stabby Lions, not the Knifey Lions. GO CREW!
Broo (paraphrasing) - If it wasn't for the Modell Law, the team would be in Austin and everyone in Columbus would be.a FC Cincinnati. Bwahaha. The delusion really is strong with that one. More likely, MLS interest in Columbus mostly dies if the Crew were gone. I question how much the Crew fanbase cares about the rest of the league as a whole as it is ... outside of the folks here and a few other places.
#AllForCincy #Crew96 Instead of focusing on superfluous details like pizza vs. burger, or who exactly removed Miazga, or even valid yet entirely separate stadium security issues for referees, let's make this nice and simple: pic.twitter.com/5FS9IOPHs6— Steve Sirk (@stevesirk) November 30, 2023
Kudos @LaMacchia. Once again, representing the fanbase well and presenting us better maybe than we are.
That's like saying "don't look at that car accident over there" (in more ways than one). I'll assume he's just saying how the STABBY Lions are a better team, Cincinnati is super duper awesome, and the Matt Miazga thing is a terrible travesty. I'll make those assumptions because I won't listen to the podcast and give Tay-Tay the clicks he so desperately wants.
@LaMacchia I signed up for the Nordecke bus but never got any confirmation. Any idea how I can find out if I actually got a spot or not?
It appears that the main claim that Noonan and the Union are saying was "fabricated" is that "stadium security" removed Miazga from the official's locker room when in fact it was an FCKY communications assistant who hustled him out of there. If this is the best they have, they ought to just shut up. At the time, the referee misidentified the person dragging Miazga and his lunch out of the room. I'm sure no one stopped to read everyone's neck plastic, and what possible difference does it make? I hope they've got something else. Demanding that MLS "condemn" the referees for "lying" based on that is pretty weak sauce.
Since my screen name is attributed to the above post (which I'm comfortable with - I have nothing to hide by sharing information that is publicly available), this is an eyewitness account of the incident by a New York-based reporter who was covering the Red Bulls that night. Here is the MLSPA statement: Statement on the suspension of Matt Miazga. pic.twitter.com/4R7F9uS2qo— MLSPA (@MLSPA) November 30, 2023 So FCC and MLSPA are calling the officiating crew and PSRA liars because 1) exactly what Miazga was eating is in dispute - was it pizza or a burger and fries?? and 2) who exactly forcibly removed Miazga from the unauthorized area. The statement, which I link to above, also blames Red Bull Arena security for not doing its job to keep Miazga from doing something he knew was 100% wrong to begin with. So we have the "Your Honor, her skirt was too short" defense combined with the defense of "Your Honor, my client must be acquitted because the eyewitness said my client drank beer before stumbling out of the bar and behind the wheel while my client was really drinking a bunch of Jack and Cokes". Not exactly solid defense attorney work here.
Admittedly, I'm going to look at this through the eyes of the officials. My screen name pretty much says it all. But PSRA may have a defamation case on their hands here. You have two separate eyewitnesses (the security guard and the reporter) who have very consistent accounts. Meanwhile, MLSPA is flat-out calling the officiating crew and PSRA liars. I'd love to see any video documenting this event. I know there are some people in the FCC X-verse saying they will "find and leak" the video. I actually hope they do, because I'm guessing the video will back up the two independent eyewitness accounts.
