That meeting last season was one of those goofy nights with a long rain delay, though. I don't know how much I'd take from it. Especially considering how much different of a team we are now.
Went to the welcome party at the stadium. Kevin molino saving that contract money cause he's driving an old CRV with Minnesota tags. Got no good pictures.
We kicked their ass in the first half. We found ourselves down 0-2. We kicked their ass in the second half. But only so we could toy with them by just tying it up at 2-2. That way we could kick their ass for thirty more minutes. Woodshed. What did I tell ya.
Watching the MLS replay of the game-winner, Cincy had two of their players fall asleep at the wheel and left Cucho wide open. Gressel sucked in #8 and #31 to the corner and they slowly jogged back into the box when Molino had the ball. They had zero awareness of what was going on. Cucho just exploited that space masterfully.

From what I heard and maybe @Bill Archer can shed some light here: Our original "gold" was supposed to be what we all think of when we think of gold. However, for whatever reason, gold fabric was expensive and TPTB had to substitute yellow. I believe the media guides never listed us as "Black and Yellow" as the official colors, but we all know we've been referred to as "the black and gold" from even before LA had two MLS teams the first time around. We've had three rebrands and at least five logos (original, my avatar...of which there's a yellow version, roundel, Columbus SC, current) and have never rebranded into gold. For whatever other reason, they never changed our jerseys to gold. OTOH, we were shipped orange jerseys, causing the 2002(?) home opener to be played with the 1999-2001 black jerseys...and who could forget those "tire track" jerseys which thankfully never saw the light of day.
Exactly. There comes a point where historic results mean absolute jack. "Sure, it's great your team beat my team in nineteen dickety-two by the widest margin of all time, but my team is on a five-game win streak against yours."
Remember when Philly beat us down 4-1 on opening night, and Jim Curtain said afterward that this Crew team was going to be really, really good and everyone thought he was just being patronizing?
I still don’t like that I’m going to have to race to get the seats I’ve paid for the last 3 years. At least give me the right to first refusal.
That was hella fun at the match. Been catching up here watching the replay. Surprised at the degree of negativity in a way. We dominated possession all game. It was 68% at half despite being down 2-0. I thought that was a clip (ever so slightly), but in no way a yellow. I friggin' love it that Rossi & Molino shut the haters up. Hope Camacho is OK. Matan, too.
Twellman was harping on it almost from the kick and kept bringing it up. Maybe the first time ever Twellman and Crew fans were in complete agreement. I have to say too that towards the end Taylor was pure class. Marveling at what a terrific match it had been, he commented that it had been a privilege and an honor to have called that game. Never heard an announcer say anything like that in my life.
