Caesars. I did not like the Tipico app at all. Not user friendly, at least not for this 40 year old you like making more futures bets than anything. Just looked and it is still at +3500.

Yeah I put $25 on the Crew, OSU men and women to win the natty and the Rockies to win over 68 games. Oh and LeClerc to win the F1 title.

It's his birthday today so sign him up! And he would up our pre-game walk in pics...according to the CBJ twitter people can't get enough of seeing Laine in his purple suits.

Luckily I got into sports betting back in 2020. I dont think I even placed my bet on the Crew til like August or September but I still got in at +3300 for $50. Wish I wouldve spent 100 lol.

I got $100 on us this year at +3000.

Ive made it my little personal tradition for my Crew fandom that I have to bet on us winning MLS Cup every year now, no matter how good the team is lol.

Well, now that we have Crew 2, you don't need as many bodies for practices (as you can borrow them from Crew 2), so it's ok to leave some slots open.

My concern is that we have 14 or a few more 1st team quality players. That isn’t enough. Supplemental guys like Jake Morris and Isaiah Parente aren’t worth $75 per ticket. I’ll pay the high prices but I expect quality players on the pitch. I’m not sure why there is a noticeable delay in getting some more senior players.

I read recently (and cannot seem to find now, of course), that Nancy made comments indicating he is not married to 3 in the back. He played that way because he thought it was best for that roster.

Whatever that means for our current roster & our assumptions, time will tell. But I do prefer a manager who is more flexible than dogmatic with regards to tactics.

Guys who played for him in Montreal say that not only was he not married to any particular formation, he also frequently changed formations based on who they were playing and/or whether what they were doing at a particular time was working.

What's more, they say he doesn't really emphasize " formation" in the overall scheme of things. (In that interview from a few days ago Nagbe said that, in fact, Nancy hadnt even talked about formation and they were 10 days into practices). He doesn't consider it to be the key factor. Rather, he focuses on style and tactics.

OK, update with updated International Spots (we now have 9!), and Bailey's latest from camp.

As always, feel free to point out my screw-ups.

As for the 2023 roster budget & rules, when MLS updates their site, I will make the switch. Or I'll need a link, at least, before I put the new ones in there

    I. Senior Roster (1-20). 15 of 20.

Salary Cap = $4,900,000. Don't have to use spots 19, 20. Min Budget charged imputed to cap if use less than 18. Max budget charge is $612,500. If there is only one number, the player has the same value for Base and Guaranteed money.

MLS/Crew.com both list Scott and not Bush as a Senior Roster player. Both are senior min players ($84k) and any could be either Senior or Supplemental 21-24. I put Bush Senior because he's above him in the pecking order.

Also, MLS lists Farsi as a Senior player. But his listed salary ($65.5k) is below Senior Min. Accordingly, I have him down further.
    --------------------

    II. Supplemental Roster (21-30) (10 of 10)

Do not count towards salary cap. Max of 10 players, subject to Season Ending Injured List, Injured List, and Loan Exceptions. All Generation adidas players are Supplemental for their initial contract.

    A. Spots 21-24. (Supplemental). 4 of 4.

Must earn at least the Senior Min salary of $84,000. Can be: a) Senior Min players, b) Generation Adidas players, c) designated Super draft eligible players, or d) HGs/HGs earning more than the Sen Min subject to HG Player Subsidy (up to $125 k more than Senior Min salary of $84k).

Rank, Player, Pos, Age, DOB, HT, WT, Nat, Desig(s), Base $$/Guar $$

    21. Scott, GK, 23, 6/30/99, 6'2", 174, USA, $84k/$84k. Th '22, O '23, '24.
    22. Schulte, GK, 21, 3/13/01, 6'5", 200, USA, GA, $84k/$96,431
    23. A. Morris, M, 21, 11/16/01, 5'10", 158, USA, HG, $170k/$172k.
    24. Sands, D/M, 22, 7/6/00, 5'10",150, USA, HG, $84k/$90,250. Th '22. O '23 & '24.
    -----------------------
Schulte was both Super draft eligible and GA. Scott is a vet min guy who could be Senior but I put him here as long as we have room. Makes no sense to use a Senior spot if we don't have to. If Arfstad lands a first team contract, it would probably be here, though it could be Senior.

I put A. Morris up here for now, though based on his HG status, he could be lower. Why? Well, the six other guys who fill the remainder of the roster are all either HGs who make less (Sands, Russell-Rowe, Zawadzki, Parente, Hughes) on non-GAs who are under $84k minimum Supp salary (Farsi).
    -----------------------------

    B. Slots 25-28. (Reserve). 4 of 4.

Must make at least the Reserve Min salary of $65,500. Can be: a) Reserve Min Players (24 or younger during league year), b) Homegrown Players earning more than Reserve Min subject to HG Player subsidy, or C) GA players earning the Res Min Salary.

Rank, Player, Pos, Age,DOB, HT, WT, Nat, Desig(s), Base $$/Guar $$

    25. Russell-Rowe, CF, 20, 9/13/02, 6'0", 161, Canada, HG, $65,500/$72,866. Tr '24, O '25-'6.
    26. Farsi, D/M, 23, 12/16/99, 5'10", Canada, INT#9, $65,500/$75,333, Th '23, O '24, '25.
    27. Zawadzki, M, 22, 4/21/00, 6'0", 160, USA, HG, $84k/$89k. Th '23/O '24, '25.
    28. J. Morris, D/M, 23, 3/3/99, 6'1/", 161, USA, HG?, $65,500/$65,500. Th '23, O '24, '25.
    ------------------------
JRR counts as a domestic player, like Fraser did, via HG rule, even though he is Canadian. MLS/Crew list him as a 21-24 guy, but I think this is wrong, his salary, like Farsi's, is too low to be a spot 21-24 guy.

Some media repoted J. Moreis as a HG 'priority' when we got him. But if MLS are correct & J. Morris is NOT a HG, he has to be 25-28 due to his salary/non-HG status.

    https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/columbus-crew-acquire-jake-morris-in-trade-with-seattle-sounders
    ----------------------------------

Must be filled with HGs earning the Reserve Min salary or HGs earning more than the Reserve Min ($65,500) subject to HG Player Subsidy.

Rank, Player, Pos, Age,DOB, HT, WT, Nat, Desig(s), Base $$/Guar $$

    29. Parente, M, 22, 3/16/00, 5'9", USA, HG, $66,724/$70,724.
    30. Hughes, D, 22, 7/22/00, 6'3", 190, USA, HG, $???/$???, Thr '24, O thr '26.
    ---------------
I put our 2 HGs who seem to be lowest on the totem pole here. Though for all intents & purposes, A. Morris, Sands, JRR, Zawadzki, Parente, and Hughes are interchangeable.
    -------
    III. Green Card Holders (2).

    Mensah, Molino.

There could be more here. I hope so.
    ------------
IV. International Players (9 of 9)

Zelarayan, Hernandez, Room, Degenek, Moreira, Yeboah, Matan, Diaz, Farsi.

Again, some of these guys may have Green Cards. JRR is a HG and counts as domestic even though he is Canadian.

MLS.com is a mess here. They count Medranda as an INT even though he got a Green Card in 2017. And became a US citizen in 2022. Moreira has NEVER counted as a INT, though he is obviously French. They do not count Diaz (GC?).

    https://www.sportingkc.com/news/ger...en-cards-no-longer-occupy-international-spots

    V. Draftees In Camp (2)

    1. Rd 1, #14: Maximilian Arfstan, F/W, 21, 4/19/01, 6'1", 172, USA, Earthquakes II (UC Davis).
    2. Rd 1, #27: Xavier Zengue, CB, 21, 3/21/01, 6'0", USA, Dayton

Wray's thoughts via Yahoo! summed up:

    1) They think Arfstan will compete for a first team spot. Will see in training camp.

    2) Others were focused on high upside guys who can develop at Crew2. They view Zengue as a CB, even though he played some FB early at Dayton. Holstad as a late bloomer CM/DM type. Zengue played 4 years, Holstad 5.

    https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/columbus-crew-select-two-players-023537238.html

    VI. Other Camp Critters (3)

    1. Noah Fuson (Crew 2), F, 23, 12/31/99, 6'1", 168, USA.
    2. Marco Micaletto (Crew 2), M, 27, 1/19/96, 5'10", 170, Italy.
    3. Phillip Quinton, D, 23, 11/16/99, 6'6".

I did not list the Academy kids. I diubt they make the team. Will correct if they are still there in two weeks.

I don't care who is on the pitch... they could put Bill Archer out there and if he can score goals and win games, I'll pay the money..... Just look at the Blue Jackets... They spent money to get a big name and .... Would you pay $75 to watch that?

Of course you care who’s on the pitch. There is zero reason to think players like J. Morris and Parente will “score goals and win games.” Certainly more so than the players on the senior roster.

I think what you’re saying is that you don’t need “a big name” to be willing to spend money on the team. What you need is a roster of players who will “score goals and win games.” Simple as that. Only it’s not simple at at all. And it’s arguably delusional to think that the youngsters on the supplemental roster might be the answer.

How the hell is Evan Bush still on 84k? Guy's been in the league long enough that his salary should have automatically been raised over the years. Not to mention, he's was the starting GK at Montreal for 5 seasons...

He's had gradual raises with Montreal. Never made "good" money for a GK in MLS but his last year there he was just under 300k i think. His first season (and contract) with us we had him on like 438k I think, practically on par with Room. When we re-signed him he took a league minimum deal or whatever you call it, just to be able to stay here.

Well, when he was a starter and on that contract, he made more. But now that he's a 36 year old backup GK, he makes less.

Regarding our open roster spots. We gave 5 open. With one guy in Supplemental who could be on Senior. Here wouod be my guesses:

    1) Nancy just made some nice comments about Quinton. Even if he canmot start, a 6-6 guy to defend set pieces and protect leads late is a nice piece we lacked last year. That would give us 5 CBs, plus Moreira could play RCB un a 3 man. Zengue is still here as well, but more of a CB/outside in a 3 man. I bet at least one sticks.

    2) Arfstan. 3 forwards is a bit light if we are gonna want 2 forward sets as an option. Noah Fuson is up from Crew 2 in camp. I think one of these guys claims that spot.

That leaves us with 3 spots open. I am hoping we have a couple guys with Green Cards I don't know about (Room, Diaz, Zelarayan). If not, then we are full up on INT guys. We'd need to offload an INT or two (Matan, Yeboah, Diaz, etc) to create space.

Regardless of which way it goes, I think we will leave a spit or two open for a summer move. Nancy will want time to assess before making a big move. And it is easier to make a DP type a TAM move at midseason. He can be a DP next year when Nagbe drops off.

Micaletto was awful good for Crew 2 last year. IDK his citizenship/GC status (Italy), but I could see him with a shot. He is an attacker, though.
