Yeah, it's always hard to tell with guys coming into the first team roster from other places. Compare some of the cuts from the last off-season where maybe they had a chance to a guy like JRR who made the first team, but....yeah. In technical staff we trust and that's why they get paid the big bucks and all that. Chase Adams could be something though. It would be fun to see Owen Presthus make the first team, if only to have a second father/son combo. @DrunkandDisorderly you should make a return trip to HCS for a game. It sounds like it's something on @Ch(Elsey)'s radar. It'd be fun to get some old-timers back for an HCS reunion.
Drip on the flame! (Crew 2 vs Chicago II) Friday 6/21 And the best part? It's the GRAND return to HCS! Brave the heat! @DrunkandDisorderly do you have it in you to do a family-friendly Columbus v Chicago match? 1-0 to Chicago following a 55th minute goal. 1-1 in the 89th with a Jayden Da goal. 9 minutes of stoppage following a few cramping-related injuries, subs, two goals and a hydration break. Kicks! Two points for the winner and one for the loser. Capy goal (#6). Chicago goal. Capy goal! Jayden Da with the stutter-step and easy goal. Chicago puts it right in. 2-2 after two rounds. Capy shot gets saved. #3 Chicago's shot got saved. 2-2 after three rounds. Owen Presthus scores! Chicago with authority. 3-3 after four rounds. Crew 2 #18 with the goal. Chicago with the goal. SUDDEN DEATH ROUNDS. Crew 2 (#20) with the goal! Chicago scored. Round #7. #11 for the Capys with the goal. Chicago with the goal. Round 8. #8 for the Capys skies onto the back on the stage. Chicago kicks....and that's the game.
We have a road Crew 2 game tonight at 7pm against New York Red Bulls II. It's free for all to watch. Video: https://www.youtube.com/live/_7u9iZMmym4?si=cmJHhJ92U5BS5Dzo Standings: https://www.mlsnextpro.com/standings/#season=2024&live=true
It's soon into the second half and we're having broadcast issues. For whatever reason, we had the commentator, but no video. Oh, MLS 1.0 broadcast standards...how we did (not) miss thee. It was about four minutes from about the 49th to the 53rd. We didn't miss any goals or red cards.
It was an absolutely colossal three points. https://www.mlsnextpro.com/standings/#season=2024&live=true
Who wants to beat another team from Toronto? 6pm Sunday at HCS! https://www.mlsnextpro.com/standings/#season=2024&live=true
It's halftime. 0-0 and hot enough for us to appreciate LDC's roof. It's a lot cooler on the concourse under the stands. TFC in the 58th. Columbus ties in the 70th. Capys take the lead in the 88th. Columbus gave up the lead in stoppage. Round 1 Capys kick first and it's good! TFC kicks and it's also good. Round 2 Diego Almeida kicks and it's good! Another TFC shot goes in. Round 3 Capy goal goes in after the TFC keeper went off his line a bit early. Round 4 TFC with a very soft goal after the Crew keeper guessed the wrong way. Round 5 Jayden Da goal! TFC goal! Round 6 The TFC goalkeeper got his fingers to it, but it's still a goal! TFC shoots, it's good, but the ref ordered a re-kick. The second kick was good. Round 7! Capy goal! The TFC goalie shoots...and scores! Round 8! Capy goal! TFC GETS BLOCKED IN THE 8TH ROUND! The next home game is 7/21 at 6pm. #HeckIsPlausible
There's a schedule in the first post. But seriously, come on out! We do a simple tailgate (hot dogs, water and juice drinks) in the lot south of the stadium before every game. Of course, people are always welcome to bring their own food/drinks. I think tickets at the window are $15.
Did anyone want a tight playoff race? With 12 games left, there's still a lot to be played, but this is nuts. https://www.mlsnextpro.com/standings/#season=2024&live=true Sunday 7/21 at 6pm vs FCC 2. Come on out!
From last year: https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/mls-next-pro-unveils-2023-season-schedule-with-new-playoff-format The 2023 season will feature an expanded playoff format that includes a "pick-your-opponent" structure in the first two rounds. Within each conference, the two division champions and the five clubs with the next highest points (seven clubs total) will advance to the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs. The playoffs will consist of three rounds followed by MLS NEXT Pro Cup, taking place over four consecutive weeks beginning the weekend of September 29. The club with the most regular season points in each conference (#1 seed) will earn a first-round bye, automatically advancing to the Conference Semifinals.
First Crew2 play tonight at 730 in Atlanta. Hoping I can watch this game. I need to watch more I’m interested in Giorgio DeLibera is he a future CM 6/8 or 6? He has started a lot of matches but hasn’t recorded a goal or assist. But has 88% passing. Owen Lange Presthus Is a midfielder who has got 6assist and a goal. What is he 8/10? He has 83% passing. Diego Almeida Is he the best young CB we got? Is he first team candidate? We definitely could use a young CB for depth if he is ready. He has 91% passing which has to be a good thing. Stanislav Lapkes will be on the bench soon for the first team. If Schulte were ever to move on this guy will compete with Hagen. So how good is he? Kyrptonite or any of you guys who watch a lot of Crew2 please share your thoughts. Thanks
Presthus was an attacking midfielder who got moved to wingback, will get a year of college and then the crew should look to sign him 100%, he is just about past MLSNP level. not sure what happened to Almeida, but he has really not looked great at any point since he has been with Crew 2, still only 20 but needs to get more consistent. Maybe still learning the language and getting familiar with the USA. Lapkes also needs to get more consistent, again just 18 years old and is probably the potential #1 for the first team, but Cole Johnson has really beat him out for the starting spot right now. I am not too familiar with De Libera to give a great assessment, unfortunately. The player to watch is forward Chase Adams. Kid is electric, only 16 and I believe that he should be signed into a homegrown deal as soon as possible. It may be unrealistic, given that he just turned 16, but he should be a high priority to be given a homegrown deal. Given what Issa Tall has stated are his opinions on youth development/Crew Two, after this year the second team is going to be super young, and Columbus should not be shy about giving out homegrown deals to deserving players, which absolutely should be the move.
Seconded on Chase Adams. Everyone else needs time. Chase though? Remember that name. (Now watch him go bust, although I did see something in Jhonkensy Noel when he was playing for the Clippers.)
AZ getting some minutes with the Capys. Our XI tonight 🆚 Atlanta United 2 💪#Crew96 | #VamosColumbus pic.twitter.com/pCYrHVhJ9o— Columbus Crew 2 (@ColumbusCrew2) July 14, 2024
As per usual for away games, I'm half-watching. I just looked at the screen in the 22nd minute and it's 1-0 to the Capys.
