As you're making plans for this weekend, consider Heck is Plausible vs FCC 2. As of right now, the weather looks fantastic. 3pm Sunday at HCS. Crew STM discount here. And yes, you can be at the Capy picnic before the game and buy your $5 tickets via that link. If you don't qualify for the $5 tickets, talk to someone who does. We can get you in.
We won't have a grill today, but we WILL be having some sort of Capy Picnic starting about 1pm in the lot south of HCS. BYOB, of course. There'll be a cooler with water, Capri-Sun style drinks and some soft drinks. Come one, come all! Heck is Plausible. (My Applebee's waitress says the Nike Youth Soccer Cup might be going on today. Tell the parking attendants you're there for that and see what happens.)
Maybe I'll drag the boy down this afternoon. They really charge for parking at the old place? I might have to give him a lesson in how we used to get to the games(crossing the tracks). Edit: I mentioned it to him and his first question was, "do they have Crew 2 merch?"
Sadly, they do charge. Cross the tracks or park under 71. Hell... don't the Lowe's signs say "No Overnight Parking"? You'll be long gone by 6:30pm. Stop at Aldi, buy something for the picnic, then carry it in...if you're feeling lucky/dangerous. What's interesting is that the signs on the road between the parking lot and Ohio Historical Center say "No Stopping During State Fair" or at least they used to. Hmmm... I've never tried it and what are the odds someone's gonna come by to tow/ticket? And yeah, they do have Crew 2 logo tshirts. I didn't see them for sale at the last game, but I wasn't really looking. Supporter Supply also has stuff for future games. https://www.supportersupply.co/capybaras
Park near the cult and cross over. Takes about 15 minutes. (An aside, ran into a guy in Stow today decked out in a full nordecke kit and hat. Never seen someone wear more than a hat out here in NE ohio, other than myself.)
I'm not saying it's free parking, but the guys in the booths at the southeast entrance near McDonald's didn't seem to want to stop those who drove in. Also of note: The huge giant gap in the fence on the east side of the stadium is most intriguing...
Taha Habroune (16') And that's how it ended. The next game is Sunday 5/25 at 6pm vs NYRB II at HCS. Highlights: https://www.mlsnextpro.com/schedule/matches#competition=MLS-COM-000003&date=2025-05-18
In case I forget, here's the FREE link to Sunday's 2pm kickoff vs Chicago Fire II in Bridgeview. https://www.youtube.com/live/V0QcGI47ndM?si=_y7BolGOsU2nLdXa They look to get back on the winning path. What I'm seeing/hearing/sensing is that they had a really good first two seasons, but since those weren't academy kids...but the likes of people like Marco Michaeletto and a defender in the draft named Xavier Zengue, they all had to go. Some of them probably could have been good enough to jump up to the first team with maybe just a little more development...but I'm glad I didn't have to make that decision. Two steps forward, one step back? On one hand, it makes all sorts of sense and it's gotta provide the academy kids with some sort of hope they can advance because the organization isn't bringing in outsiders for Crew 2 roster spots. OTOH, a bunch of guys maybe aged 17-20 or so who were actually MLSNP-good and maybe could have had a chance to see first team action this year or next were all dumped on their butts in favor of some 14 and 15 year old former academy guys. It's fair to the academy kids indeed, but it's also like "ummmm...winning? But also development is good. But winning?" If the primary point of MLS NP is to develop academy kids, what hope is there for the SuperDraft and getting former college soccer players who might not have been part of an academy? I think we might be coming to a crossroads. So let's see if they can drip on the flame.
Chase Adams isnt even the top prospect in the academy. Di Noto, Forfor, Brown, Dinaji are names i hear are higher rated. We lost Apolo sadly. To hold onto him was going to be tough from the jump
No, I appreciate it. I wish there was more coverage of the academy much like you get with minor league baseball.
Probably europe. He and his family reportedly have passports/citizenship in some country there. A la pulisic
