In an alternate universe, if there actually had been a halfway decent academy in 2021, things would have been different, but how? Do the Capys still make the first two MLSNP Cup games?

    No Zach, No Par...Problem!

    0-0 in the 10th minute.

Kevin Gbamblé with some nice speed down the middle in the 20th to collect the pass from the far side. His sixth goal in his last seven matches.

    M. Morgan for New England II in the 34th with a goal that went past Luke Pruter's outstretched arms and just past the goalpost.

Johann Chirinos scored for New England II...

Own goal! 1:2. Allan Oyirwoth (New England Revolution II) scored an Owen Gohl!

    2-1 in the 42nd now.

    2-1 at the half.

At halftime, they're showing us a magazine-style feature on how North Texas SC has their own stadium. Welcome to the club, NT SC.

There was also a shoutout to MLS Next Pro alumns taking part in the MLS All-Star Game, including one Mr. Max Arfsten.

Coming out of the halftime break, the announcer said "The Capybaras have a one-goal lead".

Just after 90:00, New England wanted to play quickly, the ref blew the whistle and here's an "all hands on deck" brawl with Luke Pruter running all the way down the field to get involved. There's gonna be a few cards as a result.

2-1 to the Capys in stoppage.

Jamil Danjaji and a guy from New England both got yellows.

And here's a yellow to Nico Rincon.

And here's a red to New England in the 90th+5 with six minutes originally called and a ref perhaps about to lose control of the game.

"And here's New England looking to level things at the death and everybody back for the Capybaras!"

Hey announcer, do you have lotto numbers? New England just scored.

    It's shootout season.

Or not? New England tried their best, but shot it over the goal and through the uprights above/behind the goal.

New England with the easy goal basically right down the middle. Luke Pruter dove to his right.

Brent Adu-Gyamfi comes up and puts it top right. The keeper dove to his right.

New England comes up. Luke dove to his left and the ball was shot to the shooter's left.

Emmanuel Ewing (a sub) comes up and shot it up and to the left. The keeper dove to his right. Emmanuel said something to the ref.

New England up now. Luke didn't move much and basically got the ball shot right at him. Luke with the easy stop.

Jamil Danjaji with a big stutter step, but it worked for the goal when the ball went into the bottom left. Th keeper sort of shuffled to his left.

3-2 to the Capys after three rounds.

New England comes up and it's the same guy who scored late in stoppage. Luke Pruter guessed correctly, but didn't get control of the ball and it went in.

Kevin Gbamblé scored in the shootout when he shot to his left about midway between the ground and the crossbar. The keeper guessed to his left.

New England up now...AND IT WENT OFF THE CROSSBAR AND INTO THE SKY!

Next up: Crew 2 vs Philadelphia 2 at 6pm Saturday at HCS!

Barring playoff games, there are just five opportunities remaining to come to HCS for a game this season. (Sitting at midfield for just $6? Is there anything else going on then? Football is coming home...to the Fairgrounds!)

After an 18-min delay because of bad weather before kickoff, we're underway! There's some ominous-looking radar north of Delaware. Let's see what happens with the second half.

Nevermind that second half business. After kicking the ball around the field, the clock hit 21:22 and we're at a weather delay.

7:29 and we're still in the delay and it looks to be worsening by my totally amateur guessing off basic radar.

Meanwhile, some sick degenerates (bots?) in this comment chain are apparently gambling on MLS Next Pro. Let's not give @DrunkandDisorderly any ideas.

    7:47 restart...or not. It's 7:51 and we're still under the stands.
Update: Warmups at 8:38 with a resumption at 8:47.

Capy goal in the 40th minute! (At 9:07pm!) Jamil Danjaji with the goal.

Ohio labor laws regarding minors might come into affect at 10pm. Halftime is gonna be interesting

    Halftime 1-0. It'll be 10 minutes.

Luke Pruter with a nice save in the 52nd off a Philly free kick.

Johan Chirinos in the 90th. Kevin Gbamblé with the assist.

Next Home Game: Saturday 8/8 at 6pm against NYRB II at HCS.

Indeed. I don't think anyone, excepting the coaching staff, had an idea what a colossal rebound it'd be. This team has been absolutely fun to watch. Besides sending Zach Zengue on a loan (boo!), the only downer has been the random ads during broadcasts. Luckily, they're not a huge deal.

Between last season's CBJ thread title and this season's Crew 2 thread title, how should I feel about the thread title for the upcoming CBJ thread?

    6pm at CTU FC.
    Watch:

    Stats and such:
    https://www.mlsnextpro.com/competitions/mls-next-pro/2026/matches/ctuvsclb-07-26-2026

Johan Chirinos with a PK attempt in the 8th minute that got blocked.

Jamil Danjaji scored in the 11th! 1-0 to the Capys!

And in the 17th, we get a well-deserved PK at the other end when a CTU FC player got dragged down...and in true MLS NP fashion, it's a goal. 1-1.

    Halftime: 1-1

51st minute: 2-1 to CTU FC.

Former Capy and MLS Next Pro Champion from 2022 Justin Malou on for CTU FC in the 56th.

And the Capys take a rare loss. :(

Next Up: Friday 7/31 at 7pm @ TFC II.
Next Home Game: Saturday 8/8 vs NYRB II at HCS.
    Tickets: https://am.ticketmaster.com/crew/buy/2026Crew2STMDiscount

The 2nd place team in the conference loses to the 8th place team in the conference. They could have been first by two points with a win and only behind Austin and Houston in the overall standings.

    Ouch.

Zengue got an assist with St. Louis City 2. Made his PK as well (though they still lost). It will be pretty annoying if we moved him if St. Louis doesn't give him MLS minutes either. Would have preferred to have at least had him help the Cappys and his teammates succeed.

Jamil Danjaji scored in the MLS next all star game today, he has scored in three straight games (two for the Capys and one just today in the all star game) and has looked good doing it. Just turned 16 but wow. let’s hope he can continue his trajectory.

It's been neat to see some more progress from younger academy kids. Especially with how dire things were under the last, uh, administration.

Welp. My schedule said there was a game tonight at TFC II. MLSNextPro says otherwise. (I'm guessing it was moved to Tuesday 9/8.)

I've had a hell of a week. Hopefully you all have had better weeks.

Sounds like we dont have enough crew 2 players. Travel to canada might complicate bringing academy players.

Website has the game on 9/8. No idea if that’s just a placeholder or not though.

Saturday is a great day for the State Fair! Get your donut burger, deep-fried whatever you want, check out the autographed ball (no AI here!) in the new food hall and then...on your way out, check out the Capybaras at 6pm at HCS

(In case you couldn't tell, it's the same ball.)

I see Matt Chulis, Todd Yeagley, I think an Ansil Elcock and Brian McBride.

(And I know you all won't be the doofi walking around in pink or blue soccer jerseys.)

    Anyhoo...kickoff. 6pm.

Parking is an absolute poop show because of the fair. (It's also a new parking company as of a month or two ago.)

NYRB II scored in the 6th or so minute.
    2-0 in the 24th.
Yellow to NYRB II in the 25th.
Another yellow to NYRB II in the 40th.
And now a weather delay just at the end of halftime ...and it's quite sunny here. The weather is...between Marysville and Delaware.

7:30 and we're back in the seating area.

64th minute and a "red card caution" (per the announcer) to NYRB's GK about 35-40 yards from goal. (It was a red.)

86th minute and it's a Capy goal! Gianmarco Di Noto.
Yellow to the backup GK for delay.

And that's the game. Final score 2-1 to RBNY II.

Next up: Saturday 8/15 at 6pm against NYC FC II at HCS.
