I would not mind the Ottawa Leopards... A bilingual name of a Big cat that hasn't been used yet.

OK, there are no Leopards in Ottawa. But there are no Tigers or Lions in Detroit either.

What about Puma, not only is that bilingual but it can be said by anyone with a foreign tongue and at least it's indigenous to the country.

That's not bad! There is always Jaguars as well, if we want to continue the cat theme, Ottawa Jags. Not sure if it's bilingual or not.

Waitta completely miss the point of my post. I am all for "FC", "SC", "AC" but I was pointing out that they are not actual nicknames.

Also I was pointing out that teams don't need to have cheesy nicknames. Crap like that is for children who can't grasp the concept of sport.

The Leopards? The Puma's? Seriously grow up.

Nick names should be unique and/or grow naturally. The Sounders isn't an organic name as it was put in place from the get go way back when but it is unique and there for a great nickname. Throwing animals at Ottawa is retarded.

Toronto FC are being called the reds, because we're red, but the fact is in 5, 10 maybe 20 years another nickname will come and really stick. The fact that we don't have a dumb ass animal or corny name like "the crew" attached to us already makes a future credible nickname possible.

You're exactly right. Reds is only a nickname for TFC because they don't have a typical American sports nickname. If the Fire had just gone with Chicago FC, they'd be the Reds right now.

Still in favour of Ottawa United.

(And I know there is no uniting of two clubs)

And of course, the Sounders references something ABOUT Seattle (Puget Sound) that is a defining characteristic of the city. That is where I hate forced names like Jaguars.

Agreed city specific names, and kit/crest based nicknames that evolve naturally are great

I just don't know much unique about Ottawa to suggest a name other than
    Ottawa National FC

I like Ottawa City A.F.C. for a name, or go the way european sports companies go and name all their teams the same: Ottawa Senators FC. Ok that might not be the best idea.

I'm glad to see people still talking about MLS in Ottawa. Keep it up guys!

    Ottawa City AFC isn't bad.

I still like Nationals; use the old WHA logo.

Spartans would be good, too. :)

Well the city is certainly very partisan. Its the home of parliament so it has to be! I think a fitting name and lets not forget out of respect of those guys across the border in Ottawa it should have a decent French translation. Partisan works well.
