That ref was crap. Oregon State was all over Dacy and he wouldnt call a foul, not even when the defender put two hands on his chest and pushed him over right in front of him. Number 3 was yanking Kraus around by the wrist in the box after he had gotten a yellow and caused a penalty shot for pulling Kraus down in the box penalty before and yet this moron doesnt call it. At least after god knows how many uncalled fouls by three he finally red carded him out. He also didnt seem to know what a hand ball was. The foul he called on creighton giving them a penalty kick was bs, the defender got all ball and didnt touch the OSU guy.

I dont know what happend on the called back goal but its real hard to be offsides on a throw-in.

Again we had a number of shots sail over the top of the goal that shouldnt have. They really need to take a touch before blasting away if they have the time. We had one that the OSU keeper mishandled come out and instead of chipping it over the pile of players on the ground our guy tried to hit the interstate overpass (cant remember who it was). Most of these shots are coming from the outside midfielders. Its nice that they're taking the shots but they need to stop one touching the things if they have the space and time to set it up right.

    From today's Omaha World-Herald:
The senior touched the ball into the net, but referee Edvin Jurisevic immediately waved the goal off. Creighton captain Michael Kraus said Jurisevic told him that someone had interfered with Deenihan.

"He said that the keeper was hit by a body," Kraus said. "I'm not sure which body hit him. There were about 12 bodies in there, so it could have been one of those. He made the call and there's nothing we can do about it."

whole article, "Warming fit to be tied", at

FWIW, the article states that Warming disagrees with the call.

It was a great game. The wind wasn't close to as bad as it was on friday. Durring the first half Yales high pressure and offsides trap gave us some trouble but we still had a few chances. Yales held up though and it was 0-0 at half time.

Right off the bat in the second we get a corner and Schuler heads it in. Beautiful. The Thayer goal was something else as it was knocked back to him from the back line as he stood maybe a foot or two from the goal. Almost looked like it had gone over the back line but whoever saved it and got it to Thayer did a great job.

Mo Travis looks to have some speed and that was a perfect chip over the GK off a breakaway.

It's going to be nice to have these guys for three more years.

Next up Airforce on the 23rd.

Tim Bohnenkamp was the one who saved the ball and played it back for Thayer. Tim also got the assist on Schuler's goal with a nice in-swinger on the corner.

No kidding, the current bunch is lacking in skill but so far have been able to make up for it in desire. They need to stop making excuses about losing the first 2 games to rated teams which have since dropped out of the rankings.

Creighton takes on Air Force tonight. There should be a large crowd for the game since parents weekend is this weekend on campus. Air force has not been good this year so hopefully creighton can take care of business.

Creighton lost 1-0 to Airforce in overtime on a night where the ball would just not go in the net for Creighton:rolleyes:

We came out in a 4-3-3 and also played a 3-4-3. Had a ball strike the post and many balls go across the face of Airforces goal but nothing would go in. The winning goal was a strong shot from outside the 18 into the upperright corner and Matt Allen didnt have a chance to make a save.

    Next up Central Arkansas.

At some point Warming is going to have to address the lack of an organized offense. Sure a good defence is important and will help you when playing good teams but you need to be able to score to beat the average/poor teams. I believe the problem is the midfield is not offensive minded enough and can't serve the useful and dangerous passes.

I think a big part of the problem with the offense is Dacy. Hes not the same as last year. We need a target man in the middle to soak up defenders physical play like Nash did (even if he couldnt hit the broad side of a barn).

Last year Dacy was great in the middle but this year hes not as fast, hasnt been playing with his back to the goal much (in the Airforce game he did on one play and was able spin and shoot on goal without the defenders stopping him), and hasnt been playing alot. He must have been hurt at the start of the season because he hasnt been playing alot of minutes and is just so slow compaired to last year.

The lone shot he took in the AF game was that turnshot. They need him doing that alot more than once a game and playing with his back to the net. We have Kraus as the flying pain in the ass all over the field forward already so what we need is a middle guy to start getting shots also.

I agree, Dacy hasn't been the same. I think a lot of why he isn't getting the minutes is because he has yet to pass the fitness test. Thayer is getting the nod because he works his butt off and is a big hit with the coaches. When Byron was younger he was able to be successful on talent alone. Now that he is @ Creighton he needs to get fit. Rumor has it that Warming said he isn't playing until he passes the test. Like you said, Creighton was most dangerous with Byron and Kraus up top with the midfielders looking for Byron. Now I really don't know what they are trying to do.

Creighton wins 6-1. They played a 4-3-3 and didnt sub left and right like normal. Maybe that helped the guys get in the flow.

It helps that Central Arkansas wasn't even a division 1 team last season. I'm not sure if they are the same caliber as the rest of Creighton's schedule. However you still have to put the ball in the net and maybe this will get Byron going again. Even though the starters didn't score in the first half, I agree with Warming's choice of players except not starting Dacy.

No they are not even close to the rest but hopefully this will get their confidence up. They did look like they worked on finishing. :)

Creighton and Missouri St. tied 1-1. Ref gave MS a free kick in the 87th minute just outside the box on a mystery foul. Fan had videod the play and there was no foul. Still should have defended better on the restart I guess.

This morning's World-Herald said that the Mo St goal was their only shot on goal for the evening. Thayer got CU's in the 50th.

For anyone who was there, how did the team look?

was at the game last nite. pretty up and down for the first half, with creighton having a majority of the play, couple good crosses but no should of scored chances really in the 1st half. creighton came out guns a blazing in the 2nd half and were all over msu and got the goal on a nice finish. after the goal it looked like they went in a "shell" and tried to hold off for the rest of the game. msu was fortunate to get the call, it was a typical 50/50 challenge that could of gone either way but msu capitalized with a nice serve and header to finish. overtime was ok, teams were playing conservative with creighton having the best chance to win on a thru ball that got past the msu keeper only to be cleared off the line by a trailing defender. overall decent game by both teams but creighton couldn't find a second goal. and not a bad result for msu either considering 3 starters were out with injuries. by the way you can find another write up and photos of the game at www.sgfsoccer.com

Creighton @ Memphis will be a good one. Not typical for Creighton to be the underdog. This will be a big indicator for both teams as they begin their drives toward conference tourneys and the NCAA championships....

Creighton over Memphis by a final score of 3-2. I believe Creighton will have a much more successful second season during the NCAA tournament....
