Has to be garbage, but there's been talk of Reyna going to Fulham for real this time. http://www.talkincity.com/steh/index.php?act=ST&f=1&t=21246&hl=reyna& http://www.talkincity.com/steh/index.php?act=ST&f=1&t=21196&hl=reyna&
I just get an error when I click the links. If there is any truth behind the rumor (which there probably isn't), it would be awesome to have three yanks on the same EPL team.
I saw something on a Fulham message board where they were looking at this and thinking it was just an old rumor someone picked up and then it went from there. Wasn't Reyna looked at by Fulham BEFORE he went to Man City? I can't imagine they'd be going back for him after 1 season... especially a season in which he was injured. I'm guessing it's not really going to happen... but how nice would it be to have Boca, McBride and Reyna on the same squad... (But I wo'nt hold my breath)
Must have been an old paper or an absolute rag. Here are some quotes from the thread, for those who can't get the links to work (they work fine for me) but are somewhat interested in what's being said. Lots of City fans, btw, have complaints similar to many Nat forum fans: doesn't make runs into the box, doesn't shoot enough, passes sideways too often, slows the ball down allowing the defense to get organised, and is injured far too often. A few, though, think he's very composed, tidy, and just what they need...when fit...which is never... Anyway, here are the quotes: "The Barton deal to Liverpool (thankfully) seems a non starter, but did anyone else hear about Reyna going to Fulham? " ------------------- "(Reyna) Is on his way to Fulham. Not sure what fee is involved, but Coleman is quoted as saying 'We hope to have him through the door very soon' The paper printing this by the way is The Daily Sport (Not mine - it's a mates, honest) but in fairness to them they did print the Anelka signing for us story and David James before any one else...." ------------------- "Strange move given that Reyna legged it to join us and hasn't exactly pulled up trees for us, if he goes good luck to him but I can't see why Coleman would come back in for him..." -------------------
How would it be nice? I'd much rather them be spread out so there is a greater chance of seeing one play week in and week out. Absolutely no advantage to having more than one on the same team.
From a viewing perspective, it's nice to have Nats sprinkled around the league. Now, from a national team developmental standpoint, wouldn't it be nice to have four or five of our senior internationals playing together on the same club team for 40+ games a year at the highest levels. Think of the chemistry they could develop.
When I saw the heading of this thread I got confused for a moment. I wish people would be careful when they make up the thread headers. FWIW, there are a few teams named "Real".
Look at Arsenal with Henry, Pires, and Viera. France has chemistry. (of course, it would be nice if the we had players that good, as well)
I hate to hijack the topic but let's plays a game of "Start a totally baseless rumor because I saw it on the internet": 1) Go to www.newsnow.co.uk 2) Do a search on "Reyna" 3) You will see an article dated June 1, 2004 entitled "Reyna to Fulham, just a few details to work out" 4) If you simply click the article and read it you will even see supporting quotes by Chris Coleman. 5) At this point, if your attention span has expired you can rush to a message board with "news". However, if you are one of these anal jerks that, like, reads the whole page you might see that the URL is http://www.readytogo.net/archives/000123.html (note the word: archives) and that the annoying heading at the top of the page that delayed you from diving immediately into the story says "August 21, 2003". But, why let a hanging detail like that wreck a juicy rumor?
In this case it came from a current print edition. Surely still garbage, but a different kind of garbage. And some people do like reading rumors. Threads that begin w/ "FWIW, this awful rag is reporting..." are fairly popular. Gives people that like rumors something fun to think about, and once in blue moon they turn out to be true, like the first rags reporting Reyna to Man City that nobody believed.
If you like absolute truths, substantiated facts, and the whole truth and nothing but the truth, then why are you on BigSoccer? It's garbage and untruths that make BigSoccer interesting and that's why we are all here.
