Police are continuing their search for the West Bromwich Albion footballer Lee Hughes following a car crash in which an elderly man died.
The striker is understood to have been at the scene of the crash in Warwickshire in the early hours of Sunday.

West Midlands Police said they had been unable to trace a 27-year-old man, despite visiting his home and contacting his employers.

A West Midlands police spokeswoman said: "Officers have visited his home and also contacted friends and his employers, but have not yet traced the man."

Police confirmed that five men were in the car at the time of the accident.

Three were questioned at the scene and a fourth has subsequently been interviewed.

The police spokeswoman said: "Three men were spoken to following the incident.

"Police have now traced another man and spoken to him. We are still searching for the last man."

Police say a silver Mercedes CL55 coupe and a Renault Megane were in collision at the junction between the A45 Birmingham Road and Pickford Grange Lane in Meriden, Warwickshire.

A Coventry man in his 60s who was a rear seat passenger in the Megane, died from injuries sustained in the crash.

His wife, who was also a passenger, was treated at Coventry and Warwickshire hospital for a broken leg.

The police spokeswoman said: "The male driver suffered a broken pelvis and another male passenger also suffered bruising."

West Midlands Police are appealing for witnesses.

West Bromwich Albion Football Club has so far refused to comment.

West Brom striker Lee Hughes has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The Albion star is speaking to the West Midlands Police, along with a solicitor, at a local station, and he is also being asked why he failed to stop following a serious accident.

It is not clear whether Hughes gave himself up for questioning or if he was tracked down and arrested.

The accident took place in Coventry city centre in the early hours of Sunday morning, and five people were reportedly in the Mercedes that clashed with the Renault Megane that contained a man in his sixties, who was killed.

A female passenger broke her leg in the collision, and the male driver of the Megane suffered a broken pelvis, but Hughes was not thought to be seriously injured.

West Brom have confirmed the forward will not be considered for selection in Tuesday's game with Cardiff City, but will not make any further comment until the full facts of the situation are known.
