These guys are pro players? For goodness sake, settle down....Had I paid $40 (+$25 for parking, etc.), I'd be thinking refund... This keeps up, and I'm going to bring up the bigger goals idea again ng Crowd sounds OUTSTANDING, and looks great too..... Hoping for a MUCH BETTER 2nd HALF...the first half play will win Revs/soccer no fans...(and I don't blame them)
so since i can't watch the game here in africa, my hopes have been dashed by your word "crap". is it really bad? you wanna protect my illusions and say something like "Cobi is a world-class dribbler of the ball and is making franchino look like a special olympics athlete." and is garber on there now giving a spiel or what?
hey jri, three separate posts and a new thread about the bad play? to me, this is pretty exciting. its hard to blame the players for being a little pumped up in front of that huge loud crowd.
This game looks amazing on tv. My only complaint is that they haven't shown the die hard Revolution supporters behind the goal. But you can still hear them chanting.
Gotta agree with jri on this one. I don't think Harris has completed a pass yet, and neither team has been able to settle down and control the ball. Lots of long balls into a stiff wind, aimless header exchanges at midfield, etc. Cobi has looked pretty good, and LA has had slightly the better of play I'd say, but not much really separates the two teams. All in all, I feel like this game is typifying for me the way the whole season has been. Rather than a higher level of play due to contraction, every game I've watched has seemed WORSE than previous seasons. The parity of the league this year seemed due to universal mediocrity more than evenly spread out skill. I'm guessing/hoping that this game will pick up in the second half, though. As the clock winds down, and players tire, some gaps should open up.
You show me ONE TIME that I've come on and criticized the level of play during a game...ever The hype around here has been amazing...."Baltimore vs. Giants"...blah, blah... The Revs are fighting hard, but it the lack of skillful play (so far) that's been disappointing, and if you can't recognize that, you really don't know much about this game. They play exciting stuff, I'll be the 1st here to admit it, and congratulate them...I'd like to enjoy the match (I'm in to the crowd)..but crap is crap. To the African guy: NE doesn't have a shot on goal, and LA might...but the teams are really lacking composure, spacing, etc. LA doing a bit better (not saying much). Hopefully things will loosen up.
Agreed...(Franchino should be gone). If you call it by the book Uh, I can't believe someone would argue that this has been a good match when neither team has even put a shot on goal after 67 minutes (if they have, it must have been a puny one)..
Nichol, on ABC, "there is really nothing in it (the match)... Take that, moron, the Revs coach agrees that this has been a CRAP MATCH so far
My goodness...can this go 90 minutes w/o one shot on goal?.....this is unbelievable....even Ruiz can't put one on goal in a 1 v 1 breakaway The crowd has been outstanding....give them something to cheer about...please... NE has to win this game now (for the good of MLS)...for the time has long passed that this could be considered an exciting match
Finally...a shot on goal by LA in 87th minute.. The crowd is doing everything they can to get into this... I don't think this match is going to inspire any soccer-haters or soccer-neutral supporters, but stranger things have happened...on TV, this has been a snoozer A Revs win should be worth should be worth a boost in season tix, so I'm rooting for that....neither team has really "won" this game...the Revs have looked particularly bad I'm starting to think that MLS is not ready for 61k at a championship final....the quality of play is simply not good enough yet....maybe better to stick with soccer specific stadium, smaller (but more loyal) crowds who can better digest less than stellar final performances.....looks like a Division II English match... type of game reminds me of Brazil-Italy final '94 final snoozer... This stuff turns on no one (on TV, at least)
A mistake in overtime could be the factor. With the crap that has been played (missed passes, sent balls to nobody, etc.) do you blame the Brit?? And what the heck has happened to Chacon, to be a non-starter??
Players have looked flat all day....to his credit (and why anyone bashes him I'll never know- Cobi almost always shows up, and has been a steady performer for years), Cobi is the only player who has shown even a spark of imagination in this match...something creative, some enthusiam..
My goodness, NE WAY TOO SLOW to recognize when to switch the ball from side to side.....holding ball too long in certain spots, allowing the defense to close down passing angles and ultimately, the ball... Way too many missed lay-offs, flicks, etc. Horrible shooting by both sides.... I'd think this has been one of the worst Revs performance of the year (at home)...They are lucky to pull a championship out of this, if they win...Honestly, this is the type of game that non-soccer fans, neutral sports fans wonder, "what is all the fuss about soccer....snooze....." Ruiz with a nice bike...about time..
Heck, I'm a soccer fan and I'M saying what is all the fuzz about soccer, in this case, MLS. The first OT was decent in excitement, seeing that I'm looking for someone to capitalize on a NON-Championship-like mistake.
That first overtime could be the best 15 min. of MLS soccer i've seen in a while. Just because they're not scoring doesn't mean it's bad soccer.
well i know it's not the most exciting final...but i haven't seen a match in a month or so , so i'm grateful to be seeing them play at this point.
The fans are doing a great job reacting to any glint of a chance...they are making the quality of the match appear higher than it is... Frightening number of unforced errors...Twellman's little dinks have been off all day..this game never got into any decent flow... The psychology of soccer finals sucks....if teams talent level fails them on a particular day, it can make for dreary play, no matter what the league (soccer is not a sport that forces you to HAVE to execute some on offensive to win....you can win on one chance). What a roar from the crowd on Brown's save.....Great fans today...they deserved better, but seem to be willing it to be better... Well, there is goes.....LA wins.....Outside a blow-out, I think this was the worst type of game if I were a newbie NE fan, but hopefully the atmostphere was enough to pull in some new fans..
After the world cup, and from watching this game, I have a new-found respect for Cobi Jones. And Ruiz just got the game winner. LA is officially off the MLS Cup schneid.
