Okay thought this would be a good of a place as any to ask a few questions to anybody that has Cox cable in Fairfax county. They just recently switched our neighborhood to digital. Currently I still have basic cable but want to get Fox Sports World. Now is it possible to get FSW without purchasing all the tiers in digital? That comes out to be about $95. Is there a seperate sports package that will have CSN and FSW? I don't want to miss any of the MLS wrap shows on FSW or CSN DC united games. Anyways any help trying to straighten this out would be appreciated. Cox customer service and website of course are not helping me one bit.

    thanks!

That's a good question. I think I'll stick with my basic cable and get both FSW and CSN for half the price of digital.

Yes. I think it is called the Sports Tier. In short, just tell them that you want to get Fox Sports World the cheapest way possible and they'll hook you up. I have digital cable on one tv and regular on the rest. I think the total cost is about $50 or $60 -- not entirely postive b/c I also have broadband internet through Cox and it's all on one bill.

You can also order the MLS Shootout package if you have Cox Digital. They are charging about $45 and even offer to let you spread the cost out over five months if you want...

Thanks for the help and suggestion..good idea to ask them how to get FSW the cheapest way possible. I love how Cox switched the area over to digital and gave us almost no warning that our channels on basic would change and my sports tier would no longer be available on basic :/

    $50 to $60 is correct.

    It is the sports tier.

Just tell them that's the only tier you want.

They have all kinds of other packages and deals with like movie packages, etc.

FSW Espanol is on another package, Latino Tier, I think.

The spreading the Shootout over 5 months is nice. It makes it only $8.82 or so a month.

It's been said before but I'll just chip in.

I have Cox digital cable, if you have expanded basic and get the sports package wich has FSW along with ESPN news and some golf chennel, is should be only about $50-$60 per month.

You can find their pricing here: http://www.cox.com/fairfax/digitaltv/digitalcablerates.asp

Looks like Digital plus 1 programing tier (Sports package) is the cost of basic digital cable plus $9.99 - Money well IMHO.

Whoa, now THAT would suck. My area is about to go digital, but I figured I'd stick with the basic as I like things the way they are. I hope it's not an attempt to strong arm people into converting to digital.

If you have Cox that's what will happen. Basic cable will cut many of the channels you have now...and if you have the sports tier they wont offer it unless you go digital..also you will no longer be able to order Pay Per View without digital..which means no MLS Shootout..make sure you are ready for the conversion. YOu will have to have them come over and switch your box to a digital compatible one as well.

When I had them switch over, the cable guy explained to me in great detail how to get the adult channels, or as he called them the ""nasty channels".

I had to upgrade to digital to get FSW from Cox. The sucky thing is, if you want digital for all your tvs, you have to pay about 5 bucks per set. So, that means I only have FSW on one tv in the house. I frequently find that to be very bad and think I'll have to get digital for a second tv now that we've got DCU on FSW.
