I talked with Catherine about getting some Cowbell shirts with logo, etc. She talked with Zack and the powers that be and they could authorize shirts and sell them as a little fundraiser for United for DC. Basically this would allow the logo, etc. along the lines Lowecefier suggested. I assume you can also get some tax credit on the purchase (I don't know for sure, but I'd say its likely--Grillmaster?) and the price would be about $20. I don't know if the "Cowbell Craze" has passed, but if there is enough interest, I can let Catherine know and we can get the process started.
Perhaps money thus raised could be restricted to the construction of bouncing stands in any new SSS for DCU? GM
T-Shirts Since I missed the previous discussion on what the T-shirts would say, can you give me a recap. Thanks
We need to have Lowecifer get on a design so we can submit for approval. Maybe we can also get some cowbells with the DCU logo! K
Red&Black maybe you want to bring this up to Catherine also. I found several online shops that will do custom cowbells. But I know without the buy in of the team, no logo could appear - except maybe the SE/BB/LN logos. http://cowbells.freeservers.com/neworder.htm http://ccb.neonstar.net/cowbell/informationpages/designown.html
I'm definitely in for more cowbell... er, I mean I'm in for a cowbell shirt. And for the record, I would buy a cowbell too, if those are under consideration. Interesting idea from all this: although it's a shame that we can't get all the DCU gear we want (remember the 'merchandise wishlist' thread from way back), we may be able to get what we want by suggesting items that can be sold as a fund-raiser through DC United. We get what we want, and some money goes to charity to boot.
I have a cowbell and I put a DCU sticker on it, thus "a custom cowbell." I hope the TM police don't come after me.
I'm in for several shirts. I like the idea of suggesting an idea for more diverse United gear and giving the bones to charity. Win win situation!! By the way...What up with the VA. license plate deal? Any hope it'll happen?
Perhaps I've missed something b/c I've been too busy at work to post/lurk much. People aren't planning on taking cow-bells to the game and clanging them are they? God, I hope not. There's good noise and bad noise. Cowbells, in my opinion, fall into the bad noise category...
You can never have too much cowbell!! (If you don't like the sound, I suggest you drink beer until it sounds better.) Put me down for at least a bell and a couple of shirts...
Cowbells will make the previoiusly awesome atmosphere at DCU games more like a Texas HS football game. Too bad...
i actually think this is a good idea. it is certainly not illegal to buy a DCU sticker and stick it to your personal property (that is after all, the point of the sticker). i'd imagine that unless you release a CD of your dcu-embossed cowbell playing or embark on a world tour, you could certainly do what you suggest.
