Heretic!! What you end up with is not a Rachel or a Reuben. Next you'll be telling me about that scrumptious deep dish! Ps....you're in Minnesota. I suppose youse guys use pickled herring in Paella!
I think a shutdown is inevitable. It’s just that there are so many morons refusing to take it seriously that it’s like talking to brick walls. I think this is deliberate. I think he’s trying to cover his own ass by saying “see, I gave you a chance to take care of this yourselves, and you refused, so here we go.“
It was similar at my elementary school in Buenos Aires. We told jokes about Gallegos (Galicians) being dumb, and we accused the kids who were stingy of being Judíos or Rusos (Jews). Ruso (Russian) was another name for the Jews, since many Jews in Argentina were immigrants from Russia.). I suppose kids reflect the racism of their society.
Put Naughty in Florida or Georgia for a while, and he'll come back to the U.K. singing hosannas for Boris.
Aren't you against the death penalty? I mean i get trying to teach a guy a lesson, but the cost of that learning could make the lesson useless?
Fair enough, I wish no such harm on that gentleman. Maybe he can visit while encased in a plastic bubble.
I just read an op-ed about how Reagan is somewhat responsible for the way the federal government is handling this. In a sense, I agree with it. Especially once they embraced the religious zealots.
He empowered the evangelicals, who later gave us W and then Trump. That's a pretty damning sentence that I just wrote.
I wonder why they had to steal it? Capitalism at its finest (?) ? I don't care who we share the research with, isn't that the idea behind globalism, we are all in this together!! It seems counterproductive to have hundreds of labs going down the same dead end road. If we operate from the premise this is an existential threat, it would seem regardless of ideology we need to find a solution as rapidly as possible. The secretiveness is merely to protect the profits of those who ultimately win the biggest "jackpot" in modern history. I think if the gov is funding the research we ought to retain at least some part of ownership directly related to our financial participation. It is easily predictable this is going to turn into an golden egg laying goose for pharma and research companies. I also think taxpayers and health care consumers are going to pay ridiculous prices that would be commensurate with some obscure disease specific treatment that has sales in the hundreds or thousands of units. This drug will be as common as aspirin with sales in the billions of units and since much of the R&D was taxpayer funded it ought to be as cheap as a tylenol, but it won't be.
20,000 at Bristol Speedway yesterday. Nascar moved the event from South Carolina due to their events ban. Masks were required on entering the stadium but not while in it. Let's keep an eye on the case count.
I don't have the details at hand (or in my head) but a large number of countries signed a co-operation pact of some sort over vaccine research / development. can't remember if the US was part of the group or not, wouldn't surprise me either way. edit: no U.S. https://www.who.int/news-room/detai...ed-in-covid-19-vaccine-global-access-facility Seventy-five countries submit expressions of interest to COVAX Facility, joining up to 90 further countries which could be supported by the COVAX Advance Market Commitment (AMC) The COVAX Facility, and the AMC within it, is designed to guarantee rapid, fair and equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines for every country in the world, rich and poor, to make rapid progress towards slowing the pandemic Interest from governments representing more than 60% of the world’s population offers ‘tremendous vote of confidence’ in the effort to ensure truly global access to COVID-19 vaccines, once developed The countries submitting expressions of interest include Argentina, Armenia, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, Luxembourg, Mauritius, Mexico, Monaco, Montenegro, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Norway, Portugal, Qatar, Republic of Korea, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.
Dear Citizen,we have received a report of self admission of Reubenic heresy type 4 "Dry Reubening". Please submit proof of you appropriately dressing your Reuben by the prescribed Sandwich commission Portal to preserve your social capital rank. Sincerely, Director Grimes' Sandwich Purity Commission
They ruled on the aspect of movement/business suppression IIRC. The mandatory mask wearing does not prevent anybody from going anywhere or any business opening.
That is not the entire list. In fact there are several different lists discussed in the article, which are not specifically spelled out in detail.
Dear Commissioners, Not only must the citizen make Reubens properly but he must confess to his errors in sandwich making and must show his love of orthodox Reubens just as he does Director Grimes. Hail Grimes!!
But he cant use zoom because of the security issues. All submissions and self criticism must be through the Sandwich Irregularity Management Portal (SIMP)
If we're looking for some signs of hope, here are six, per Joseph Allen's article in the WP. 1. Additional therapeutic treatments will arrive before vaccines. 2. Rapid, low-cost saliva tests (somewhat like a pregnancy test) are coming, hopefully before vaccines as well. Even if they are not as sensitive as the swab, they can be taken at home and you would get result in a few minutes, which means you can retest on demand. 3. Masks work. Firm consensus in the scientific community. This is the low hanging fruit of this disease's control. 4. Airborne spread is a thing. It is also now the consensus that this is real. So now we know better building strategies will help fight the spread. 5. This is early but may be a thing. Exposure to other more common viruses help some people fight COVID-19. This might help us understand why some are not as affected as others. Not really a cure or treatment but there you go. 6. Vaccine trials seem to be working. Hope for the best. The most important thing is manufacturing and getting the vaccines out to nearly 8B people - every year. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opin...about-covid-19-here-are-six-reasons-optimism/
It’s taken about six months to gather this much information. Mostly because of White House influence calling for “Freedom.” Politics over science. It’s almost like we haven’t learned a thing since 1918.
That 18% test +ve rate means its spreading out of control R is likely much higher than that headline number, because so many +ves won't even be tested
I went out in the hood today and felt really unsafe outside. Too many people around and no masks outside Ironically you are safer in the restaurants and shops where masks is 100% and distancing enforced. All the Al Fresco dining has additional shields installed between tables
