I wrote about her before. Penn demoted her, because it admits every ********ing Trump brat who can't multiply 6x17 because Daddy is rich but demotes scientists who don't have connections, even though they do Nobel Prize level work.

Accessibility is not binary. It's doable but not easy for many. Especially people who don't have time or the broadband connectivity to hit "refresh" 600 times per day just to get an appointment that's an hour drive each way.

    Case in point:

That’s the actual World-o-meter currently. Either our troll friend is being intentionally obtuse or if a victim of confirmation bias.

Using Currently active cases to downplay the severity is just sticking your head in the sand.

Of completed cases, 3% were fatal. Almost 3m people died so far and that is likely very conservative.

I also note that they don't differentiate between non-symptomatic, mild, and lasting effects regarding the overall. As we have discussed, one of the big unknowns and worries is the long term effects.

    You made two assertions there.
1 - That if we weren't obese, we would not have an many covid infections
2 - That if we were not obese, this pandemic would barely exists.

Regarding the first, yes, I agree, and flipping through the link you provided indicates that, to the point that they would be severe/require hospitalization. But the second point is not supported. And even in countries that are not heavily obese, and even among people who are not obese, there is still significant infections and spreading of the virus and notable hospitalizations and deaths. Further, you statement also says nothing of old people.

This pandemic exists not because of the health conditions (obesity) of people, but because this virus has developed the ability to be easily transmitted.

  13. Sorry dude.
Long term covid problems are in 30% of the cases, which caused Dutch medical institutions to set up a research study on the long term effects of covid and the treatment of those.

I think you mean deaths in 1. Less infections would, invariably, mean less of a pandemic.

    I stated as much.

It was the context that you missed (and to which people here objected), of course, and you know it.

Not a single damned expert (and, I know, you cannot believe the experts), has advocated for this.

The recommendations change. It is not "'two mask' nonsense," due to the changes in recommendations. The science is evolving. The technology is evolving.

Deal with it and stop being such a hyperbolic, colicky baby.

The rest of this comment is too ridiculous to address.

I have NOT labeled you a "covid denier." Do NOT put words in my mouth.

I am not afraid of COVID-19, either. I am concerned and relatively cautious, as I am somebody who is at pretty significant risk for complications, due to a few chronic health issues I have.

If I were to contract it, I would deal with it, like any other health issue/illness.

As it is, I take reasonable precautions. I have been tested 4 times and received my first vaccine a couple of weeks ago, with the second on Wednesday.

Your lack of "fear" does not mean you should be an asshat about the dangers and that you should flout the incredibly sensible and personally non-invasive precautions like wearing a damned mask (or two, if you have an ineffective mask) and respecting social distancing.

It is simply rude and, potentially, dangerous to have your attitude.

Yeah... It would be awesome to get high schoolers vaccinated.. From what I understand, high schoolers are the most likely group of kids to infect others.

    No, source:
Your link does NOT say, "COVID would have barely been a thing" but for obesity.

    That is simply not true.

Also, that says nothing as the effect upon seniors, individuals with compromised immune systems, heart/breathing issues (not related to eating processed crap and soda), etc., etc.

At least you tried this time.

They do tend to lead very high risk lives in terms of viral transmission too. Probably the most high risk, aside from maybe the 20 to 30 bracket.

    Thank you for the correction.

And I guess it should read serious effects including death.

You’re absolutely right. I want to start with that—even though I think your overall point is incorrect—because people can be such jerks. That’s the main thing I’ve learned is in the last 4 years; knowledge, skills, and facts may vary between groups but the asshole-level is a constant for all.

OK, so the stats you’re quoting are for current cases. A valid point but you do see that the overall cases had a 3% mortality? Clearly Covid overall has had a higher than 99% mild case rate.
