Wow! Colin Powell dies of Covid complications. Just surprised me. Edit: : A doctor explains why Colin Powell was susceptible to COVID-19 despite being fully vaccinated. https://www.rawstory.com/here-is-wh...eptible-to-19-despite-being-fully-vaccinated/
Now watch as the same people that tried hard not to attribute deaths to COVID previously, will try to label this as a COVID death.
Not anymore. The COVID-19 deaths so far for police is 231, on pace to exceed last year, when (of course) there was no vaccine available. Total Line of Duty Deaths: 362 9/11 related illness 1 Assault 5 Automobile crash 16 COVID19 231 Drowned 3 Duty related illness 2 Gunfire 49 Gunfire (Inadvertent 1 Heart attack 15 Motorcycle crash 3 Stabbed 3 Struck by vehicle 12 Training accident 1 Vehicle pursuit 2 Vehicular assault 17 Weather/Natural disaster 1 https://www.odmp.org/search/year?year=2021
I received my COVID-19 booster this morning. I became "eligible" as of Friday (6 months after my last Pfizer vaccine) and made the appointment as soon as I could. Bit of a headache and a bit tired, but that could the effects of not sleeping much last night as much as the booster. We'll see what develops. That being said, it is well worth it to protect myself, my family, my students (the one who shows up to class, almost all choose the Zoom option), my co-workers (the few I actually see) and the others in my little slice of the world.
Who would have thought that Puerto Rico has the highest % of vaccinated in the US? Read the thread to understand why this great success story has happened. Embarrassing as well for us in the mainland. When folks think about highly vaccinated places in AmericaThey think Vermont or CT or MAThose places are goodBut not the most vaccinated place in AmericaSo who's #1?Puerto Rico! But PR has gotten way too little attentionIts worth reflecting on how they did itThread— Ashish K. I'm sure it all was accomplished when the last president spoke with the president of PR and instructed them on how to vaccinate everyone. /s
I'm sure that they put those free paper towels to good use by fashioning them into masks while standing in line for their shots.
Does the US not have cheap rapid tests? In Germany they've been available in supermarkets and chemists since last year They cost less than EUR2 now. We've not used them so much as we just use the nearby testing centre but the kids take them 2x per week in school When and how can we all get cheap at home tests? And how and when to use them.@inthebubblepod had a great toolkit episode for you. https://t.co/XYyeJly7UF— Andy Slavitt 🇮🇱 🇺🇦 (@ASlavitt) October 18, 2021
Home test kits cost about $10 per test. But drive-through tests at pharmacists are free and more accurate.
