https://www.npr.org/2025/04/16/nx-s1-5355131/hepatitis-cdc-lab-outbreak-ghost Fallout from RFK's cuts is causing more problems.
First they close the labs at CDC, now they're getting rid of a third of HHS, including most of HIV. Here is the leaked proposal: https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2025/04/16/hhs-budget-cut-trump/ $40B cut overall, eliminate 2/3 of NIH institutes and centers, CDC by over 40% cut, eliminate all chronic disease programs including HIV, heart disease, obesity, diabetes, and smoking. Rural health? Gone. (Insert leopard face eating here) Head Start? Gone.
Hope everyone enjoys their ecoli salad and salmonella chicken! https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/apr/17/fda-suspends-quality-control-food-testing-staff-cuts
Saving $40bn and killing thousands, while also increasing job absences and medical costs. Sounds about right for Trump's policy.
And what idiot from that government was making threats a few days ago, if we (The EU) doesnot adjust our rules on food safety, so we will import american hormoes doped red meat and chemical chicken meat. At least they keep their pfas infested chicken eggs.
Cuomo might be in some trouble. Comer refers former NY Gov Andrew Cuomo to DOJ for prosecution https://t.co/lWyBopqKp1— Just the News (@JustTheNews) April 21, 2025
It going to be more than the EU banning import of American with the more old fashioned fear of infectious disease spreading both to humans and domestic animals.
Liberals nod in agreement. JUST IN: 🇨🇳🇺🇸 China blames the United States for the origin of COVID-19. pic.twitter.com/UbWSGYrKQV— BRICS News (@BRICSinfo) May 1, 2025
This is actually a big deal. Trump just issued a sweeping executive order to shut down dangerous gain-of-function research — in the U.S. and abroad. This marks the most aggressive federal action yet to stop lab-created pandemics. Here’s what’s in it — and why it mattersTHREAD— Angeleno Insights (@AngelenoInsight) May 5, 2025
First, even if we accept that covid was caused by a lab leak, it was not because of gain of function research. There is no evidence that covid was anything but a natural virus. Second, there is scientific value in performing gain of function research. Is it dangerous? Of course, but that's why they have a lot of safety protocols to prevent the release of those viruses.
Not to mention, this has no control over international labs. And gain of function is hugely important in looking for ways to prevent or treat things like cancer, to help people with all kinds of genetic diseases. This is just another step in hurting US scientific research.
Plus we had an entire team there to keep an eye on just that in China that the Felon fired like 8 months before COVID.
Remember those "We love our nurses!" flyovers? https://www.cbsnews.com/news/thunderbirds-blue-angels-flyovers-coronavirus-covid-19/ That aged like a pile of shit in that RFK Jr river. We know what MAGA thinks of COVID and their beloved TrumpVaccine in 2025.
There's still 300 people dying from COVID each week in the US. Actually 350 a week the last month. https://abcnews.go.com/Health/300-people-us-dying-covid-week/story?id=122068959
I appreciate this. However...... 350 x 52weeks = 18200. Provisional, From the CDC for 2023 Went from 58.7% of deaths involving COVID in 2022 to 18.2% in 2023, (and that was at 76,446 deaths in 2023) 2024 prelim data has flu at about 28,000 deaths I don't want to downplay that COVID-19 is still a serious threat, but it is endemic and less fatal than the flu right now. Long COVID seems to be the scarier consequence. These are still worrying numbers for communicable diseases that don't really need to be that high. Point remains, please continue to vaccinate against both COVID and influenza annually.
And it's not a concern to the idiots who need this information because "350/week is like one section of a high school football stadium". Beloved Daddy still hasn't done any work to bust the "Deep State" wide open and prove to the nay-sayers how COVID-19 "deaths" were actually crisis actors...but He's working on it! You'll see...
I also want to take a moment here and state that I may have been in error about some of the effectiveness of govt responses. I know that I viscerally was terrified of sending my young kids to schools for fear of spread. Honestly, if we had ever even gotten close to doing an actual lock down, then I now think that closing schools from March to June 2020 was for the best. The fact that we kept restaurants and bars open during that time and schools closed just infuriates me to the point that I can't even seriously hold this thought in my head for any length of time. It's f********ing disgusting. I seriously hope that next time around, next pandemic, that schools are better prepared to stay open, or reopen ASAP, and that the govt. just pays out to keep dine-in restaurants and bars closed. But since kids don't vote, maybe this is asking too much.
