It's not a great article but the heart issue isn't resolved -- maybe minor enough that it won't be a problem?
English Language Learners Definition of misdiagnosis : an incorrect conclusion about the cause of a disease or problem : an incorrect diagnosis. Happens all the time. I once had a stress EKG that supposedly showed something, but after a whole bunch of other tests, the original conclusion was proved incorrect. Nice thing is that I now have a baseline for echocardiogram, etc...
Yeah, but ESPN reported ‘tests revealed an issue with his heart.’ They didn’t say that Josef had an incorrect test results. And I know journalism is struggling right now, but I think ESPN is still good enough not to make a mis-statement about Josef’s heart, since it could affect his career.
I doubt they'd say "heart issue" after an iffy EKG, since an EKG is just the gateway cardio test. The thing is, there are lots of anomalies that are not that rare, and may or may not be compatible with professional sports (depending on the sport).
"Sports" that all heart anomalies are compatible with, because they don't actually tax the heart: baseball bowling golf archery darts
There are pro athletes with congenital anomalies like heart murmurs that they don't even know about because the murmurs are so minor and the athlete is asymptomatic. It depends. In this case the heart issue was associated with covid, and I would not want to take chances if it was me or my kid.
I was just using this discussion to get in my digs at “non-sport” sports like baseball and golf. I have no comment to make on the actual subject at hand . OK they’re sports but you don’t have to actually be in shape to play them. I’d rather we drew the line there, and called them “pastimes” and not sports.
My definition is that anything you can drink beer while playing (e.g. baseball, golf) is not a sport.
I didn't realize that Peter Vermes and 2 unnamed players were in MLS safety protocols on Jul-19-2021, 2 days before our Wed Jul-21 game this past week. Then on Fri Jul-23 he tested positive and so did not travel to SEA. He says he was vaxed.
This has nothing to do with covid! But since it's related to soccer and health, I figured why not. https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamaneurology/fullarticle/2782750 You don't have to catch covid to suffer long-term neurological problems.
I read the abstract...********...I was a defender for 20 years. I didn't play professionally, but I know I've headed thousands of balls over the years. Of course, I think my extra-thick skull should be a mitigating factor...
We’ve re-entered the flatulence era of COVID. As if things weren't crappy enough already:Covid could be spread through flatulence, say UK ministers https://t.co/Qkeerpg8N5— Nicholas de Wolff ❎ (@usdew) August 4, 2021
