I would like to see data which shows that the money one is earning is a greater disincentive than the fear of becoming infected. Thinking of the poor, they are the ones most likely in jobs which are service industry, which means they are likely to have contact with a greater number of people, than say somebody in management in a band or insurance company or places like that. Further, those people are more likely to be able to work from home, thus further lowering their potential contact with somebody infected.

"Donald Trump Jr. declared the video of Stella Immanuel a “must watch,” while Donald Trump himself retweeted the video."

So, this Stella Immanuel sounds interesting!

"Before Trump and his supporters embrace Immanuel’s medical expertise, though, they should consider other medical claims Immanuel has made—including those about alien DNA and the physical effects of having sex with witches and demons in your dreams."

    Yeah, interesting.

"Immanuel, a pediatrician and a religious minister, has a history of making bizarre claims about medical topics and other issues. She has often claimed that gynecological problems like cysts and endometriosis are in fact caused by people having sex in their dreams with demons and witches.

She alleges alien DNA is currently used in medical treatments, and that scientists are cooking up a vaccine to prevent people from being religious. And, despite appearing in Washington, D.C. to lobby Congress on Monday, she has said that the government is run in part not by humans but by “reptilians” and other aliens."

    So, so interesting.

Her boyfriend must be this guy.

Now I want to look her up and see where her MD and other degrees are from. Alas, online educating is going to be time consuming this afternoon.

This woman is a religious huckster. Interestingly, if not slightly disturbing, is the way all the white people in white coats (not sure if they are doctors as well) gave her the stage to spew her gibberish. I guess there put her in front as a token black woman.

So it's looking like wearing a mask protects you as well as protects others. Mask wearers are less likely to get the illness, and even if they do it's far more likely to be asymptomatic or much milder. This may be one of the reasons the current percentages of deaths and hospitalizations are lower than during the New York outbreak.

    So wear a mask, dummy.

Please cite where $600 "disincentivizes" work.

    And for whom? Slave laborers.

For fast food workers and retail clerks, putting their health and lives on the line to serve you bad food and ring up your purchases?

That is a failure of wages and minimum wage being way too low, not that unemployment during a goddamn pandemic is too high.

It is pretty f'n cruel to say "Oh, go ahead and endanger yourself, because providing $600 is too much to give you to stay home and safe."

The CEO of Kodak told Trump "We'll have a vaccine ready in a flash" which he thinks makes a lot of sense.

There's been some argument that viral load exposure is proportional to severity. Thus if masks help reduce the amount of viral load exposure, it can perhaps correlate to reduced severity. Pretty straightforward.

That Defense Production Act covers ... everything. If the Dems take control in 2021, one of the first acts they should do is repeal that Act.
