The English Beat’s Save Is for Later Pete Townshend’s version, which Dave Wakeling has said is more mature than his version. https://m.youtube.com/watch?time_co....com/&source_ve_path=Mjg2NjY&feature=emb_logo
Really like that arrangement from Kendrick, and Merchant's voice will forever be one of my favorites. Never got the hype around the Stones though.
Just learned that a fellow Rotterdammer, who emigrated to Canada died last month, who had several hits/good selling records in Canada and USA. One of those was a cover of good old Ray Charles "Hit the road Jack" Cover by Ronnie King and the Stampedes
Maniac Michael Sembello Pomplamoose The Hindley Street Country Club Let's throw in Gabriella Quevedo as well
The Beatles - Eleanor Rigby (Official Music Video) Ray Charles "Eleanor Rigby" (The Beatles Cover) on The Ed Sullivan Show:
While not as good as the rival, I think this cover is about as fun as a cover of an already fun song can be. Beatles - Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da MercyMe & tour partners/friends/hotel residents
Only a fool-Mighty Sparrow ONLY A FOOL (BREAKS HER OWN HEART) - MELL & VINTAGE FUTURE The female perspective
I like the nod in the video by the second one to the first one of these. Labi Siffre - "It Must Be Love" Madness - "It Must Be Love" (that's Siffre at the end taking off his sunglasses and smiling for the camera)
So many covers soo good of this classic Dylan song Bob Dylan - Knocking on Heaven's Door (Original 1973) Guns N' Roses My favourite cover: Eddie Bullen featuring Keisha Christian - Knocking On Heaven's Door [Official Video] Brian Ferry Just three with completely different vibes, but there are so many more. Feel free to add your favourite.
Here's Avril Lavigne with the most Dawson's Creek sounding version of it. Here she is with a different take on it. And now for something completely different, here's Kiesa Keller with a piano cover.
Green Day was supposed to perform on Kimmel. Billie Joe ended up going into rehab the day before. Alanis Morissette stepped up and turned Basket Case into one of the most soulful expressions of pain and self doubt you'll hear. And here's Bryant Roses for the heck of it.
The AV Club was bought/rescued from whichever private equity bozos had gobbled it up, and they've relaunched AV Undercover, one of my favorite things on the web, where they invite bands to come in and cover songs from a list each week. They've also compiled a listing of all the previous performances in one place, which is nice. https://www.avclub.com/av-undercover Some of my favorites from the archive: Swell Season covering Neutral Milk Hotel Wye Oak covering Kate Bush
Thanks @Quango I live about 10 miles away from where The Wye Oak stood. The Wye Oak is (I think still) the state tree of Maryland. We're the only state that has a specific tree as it's state tree. The Wye Oak was also the specimen white Oak, and if you're a biology need, the "specimen" of any plant or fauna is a big deal. The duo re-named themselves Wye Oak shortly after the tree came down. (They're from Baltimore.) That was a fun listen. Not as good as Kate's version, but still entertaining.
The only Beatles cover I like more than the original. probably because I heard the Feelies version first.
