Weather here has been steady rain for nearly 24 hours, not stopped, muggy with partial clearing. The pitch wil be wet.

Not that I am happy about this but Prinz's goal to make it 2-0 and the assist from whomever was damn good...a thing of beauty.

It is 2 - 1 at half time and the Courage are lucky to be on top. The Beat has dominated possession for stretches and just cut right through our defense any number of times. But we have hung on so far. Hope we can pull this one out!

We win 2 - 1! The ref called a bogus (IMO) penalty kick on a non-foul by Borgman and Dominguez missed it. We did better in this half in general I thought, as far as our teamwork, defense, and possession. Some more scoring would have been nice! A win!!

I believe it was Unni Lehn who had the assist to Birgit ....

It was Unni, that is who was credited with the assist.

    Now for the Belmont

Whew! Thank goodness .... I was on the edge of my seat most of the game. We scored those first two so quickly, then had to wait out the last ~80 minutes before the win was sealed.

On a play shortly thereafter, Borgman gets testy and gets booked, right? The Courage/Beat feud continues ....

    Maybe she felt guilty. ;)

Thank you, Courage. The Breakers could be in first place tomorrow evening. :)

OMG, I turned the game on at 4 p.m. and missed half the game!

    Naw, just joking.

That was far from the best game I've ever seen, but it was fun. I didn't lose interest. It definately wasn't the best ref I've ever seen. The handball call I could see going either way. The PK call against Borgmann was beyond bogus. It sucked. (the card, OTOH, was righteous). If a team I supported got a PK on a call like that, I'd be embarassed. And if they won a game as a result, I'd want to crawl in a hole and die. Stuff like that should NOT be called. Dominguez missing the PK was so sweet! And it was justice.

Atlanta scored the goal of the game. But we scored two.

The player who impressed me was Lucks. She's a keeper.

    Prinz's goal

Here is how they describe it:
As I recall, there was no "collecting" -- she just blasted it with one perfectly timed touch.

Any thoughts on why Unni was subbed at half-time? I thought she played well in the 1st half. Does she have an injury or anything?

    Good to get a win.

They mentioned on TV that she was having hamstring problems. We can't afford any more injuries!
