CAR didn't put enough pressure on DC ballhandlers. Not that DC played that well, but they looked so much better because CAR allowed them time and space to do their thing. Other than the goal, CAR looked flat. Lehn, nobody were making dangerous runs on the flanks. Launching balls from the back made CAR look like a college team - a bad college team. The rookie GK showed me that she's still a rookie. She caught air on Wombat's goal, but Breanna Boyd was just as bad because she ran away from Wombat during the FK. WTF was Boyd thinking? Nice to see Snoop, a.k.a. Kelsey Carlson, get the start. I don't hang around on this forum, thus I didn't even know Snoop actually tried out for this team.
Here's the report from the Courage site: http://carolinacourage.com/352093.html We really need to do better on our corners. Most of our seem to have been wasted. Fotop did not seem to be making the kind of contribution that one would hope for. What if we had a speedy little forward paired with Prinz. Where was Erin Baxter? Too bad for Burke. This won't be good for her confidence. When is Lucky supposed to be back?
actually, i disagree with that. here's what i think about boyd and what she did during that play... from what i saw, bre peeled off from marking abby tightly when she saw burke go for the ball, and "looked" like she would get to it etc. instead of following abby, and possibly causing even more confusion in the box whether it be colliding with her keeper or abby etc., bre did what she always does...she ran to cover up the empty net as precaution to if the ball bounced out etc. that's what i saw. you may say that bre didn't make the right decision etc., and maybe she didn't...but having watched bre many, many times...that play was not anything out of the "ordinary" for bre etc. but then again, maybe i'm blind..can't see a thing and dont' know nada. lol elaine
Off game topic, Elaine, I will have a picture of Bre and I at the fan fest. I will e-mail it to you tomorrow. K~
Well, this was my first Courage game in person and I have to say I was a little disappointed with our performance. As someone mentioned previously, we just looked flat. I thought our midfield did a very inadequate job controlling the play and driving the ball up in a controlled fashion. The only time we really looked good was when Birgit could get to the long ball. I thought it was a real gutsy call by Mrs. Hunt on the PK. I agree that there was probably a handball in the box, but it seemed to me that the shot was going at least 5-10m over the crossbar and the handball had no real impact on play. I guess the fact the Freedom player's hands were over her head was the deciding factor. I was a bit surprised that Hamm didn't see Yellow for Dissent. She actually grabbed Hunt by the shoulders and turned her around to protest! Too bad Hege put the ball wide... On Wambach's goal, what I saw from my vantage point was two very clever dummies to the far post and Hamm laying the ball right into Wambach's path. I know it's a long season, but if our midfield doesn't gain more control, it's going to be a REALLY long season.

Burke Gets Duke job http://goduke.ocsn.com/sports/w-soccer/spec-rel/040803aaa.html this article says that Meghann Burke will be the GK coach at Duke in the Fall...
Cachundo is alone in his criticism.... poor analysis on his part. Boyd handled the play correctly. Have to give the keeper the room to make that play...or not. Beulah's coverage was pretty much how I saw the game. High praise for Boyd's play.... and rightly so.
