Next on the Courage’s checklist was a flank midfielder. According to Travasos, its third pick, Heather Ragsdale, should fit the bill.

“She has good size, tremendous pace and really good stick in tackles,” he said. “We also like her versatility in that she can play up front and might even be able to play in the back one day. We think she has a bright upside.”

Ragsdale, from Texas A&M, recorded 100 points on 37 goals and 26 assists during her collegiate career.

I'm glad to hear that Ragsdale is not just another tall forward in the mold of Prinz and Fotop and that she will be able to play as a flank midfielder as well. If roster sizes are reduced to 16, it is going to be extremely important to have players who can play more than one position.

Marcia went for a lot of speed in her first draft, I think we are seeing this again. Hopefully, the women we drafted also have good ball skills and can hold posession.
