this trophy is not a major priority but with only 4 victories needed to win it, it would be a shame not to give it a good go, especially with a team as deep as ours. it comes at a good time to give players match time who really need it: fabio santos and govou of course but there's also källström, piquionne, and mounier. strangely, delgado is one of the players who used to be in this category and he's being rested; sign he's becoming part of puel's plans in a big way? here's the group for lyon: Vercoutre, Hartock - Grosso, Boumsong, Cris, Faure, Réveillère, Gassama - Fabio Santos, Källström, Makoun - Juninho, Govou, Ederson, Mounier, Keita, Fred, Piquionne
ill like to see Mounier and Piquionne get significant minutes in this match. We never know if we might need them, and they haven't been playing enough.
I just wish we could rest both Grosso and Reveillere, but for now, it's one or the other. Big game against Bordeaux and then Fiorentina coming up in the next week, I'm guessing Puel has his mind on that as well.

studying rhetoric you learn to put your most important point last, so i suppose the least important goes first: more equitable officiating wouldn't have gone amiss last night. for example, OL got robbed of 3 corners, only one of which wasn't obvious from any vantage point in the house except fautrel's, and two in the space of 5 minutes when lyon was pushing hard for the equalizer. plus the debatable fouls and obstructions that all just happened to go metz' way. of course they no longer do replays of those actions but i would have been curious to see some, just like i'll bet dollars to doughnuts the ball that led up to metz' second was over the touchline by 10 cm... and then there's the timekeeping: a) 1 yellow plus 1 sub plus 1 player down 60 seconds and another down 150 just doesn't add up to 1 minute. b) when the board says 5, you don't play 4. not that the minute would have made any difference, just to play the game according to the rules. but of course that's the least important. what really sticks in my craw is that of the 3 goals, only one really should have happened in a euclidean universe. what kind of twinkle toed move did cris make to let that cross through? and vercoutre? hats off remy, the stupidest blunder an OL keeper has made since olmeta, even if J2M helped you a lot. at 1-2 OL was coming back strong and confident, at 1-3 it was a chinese fire drill time, GAME OVER. who was any good? no one. and even so we were eating them alive for 20 minutes and had no excuse not to win. well, at least now we don't have to go through the nightmare of playing vannes!
I think I jinxed it when I made fun of Sochaux kicking out Marseille in the last round. I'll never do it again, I swear.
