I've been reading alot about this issue lately. The issue about what clothing you should wear when you go watch a USMNT game or watch it amongst friends even. There are two opposing thoughts. They are: 1. You wear the national team jersey or something relatate but never a club jersey. The feeling is that if you wear the club jersey you are picking club over country. 2. You wear your team's jersey. Basically you show up wearing an MLS team's jersey. The feeling or rather the message that people pick up is that you are putting your club over country. Now personally I can see both points of view. But I also find the debate silly. Silly you ask? Well yes, because I dont think that your heart (support for usmnt) comes thru in the shirt you are wearing. It's inside you and in what you feel. Now I'm not saying you should ONLY WEAR your club's jersey to the game. What I'm saying is that it really shouldnt matter. Why? Because when you stand amongst BROTHERS what you wear means NOTHING but rather its what is in your heart that MEANS EVERYTHING. Your TRUE BROTHER will always know this. I've stated my opinion now I'm curious to know about yours. Tell me guys what you think.
well being from the office i am going to class - i could not find my EJ jersey this am but i was running late and could not conduct a full search - i will be in work clothes - ha ha - ill wear the free AO tshirt!
Like you said it really isnt the worst thing in the world to wear your clubs jerz as long as you are cheering with your countrymen/women. But if I did have to make a choice in the matter I would say your country's jerz or a club jerz of a national team player.
well Cosmos..in some countries it has to be no club colors..for example Scotland..you can't have some guys wearing Celtic Jersey's and some wearing Rangers..it would lead to fights..I think its best just to stick with your national team..but if its like the guys at Stout watching the game..then I don't see a major problem with wearing Red Bulls gear..even though they're going to be DC fans there or Revs fans.. When Argentina plays..do Boca and River fans wear their club colors ? I don't know ?
I'll tell you..I would put it aside for Country..now I doubt ..you'd see a guy brave enough to wear a ranger jersey through Sunnyside or woodside ..but if he did..God bless him I was about to buy a Beasley USA Jersey..last year..that wouldn't get much play in my hood
The blue and pinstripe one are on sale..both at Onionbag and us soccer..Yeah Bradley is the next star..he'll be moving to Germany next year..I would love a Bornstein jersey
Its really great to see our players having so much success. And they will only get better. Also as the sport grows over here there will be more and more players following them in that success. There are a few jerz's I want:Jozy,Adu,McBride,Bradley and Dempsey just to name a few.
guyattheendofthebar has a McBride and Dempsey...yeah I would like a Red throwback style McBride..then a blue Jozy..
Yeah I know what you mean. With regards to Boca and River there are several codes that are followed. For example when Argentina plays at home, you dont watch the game in the Rivers supporter section if you are from Boca and vice versa. Having said that I guess its a auto exclusion type of thing. So you might find a club jersey at an international game, but then again you will probably only be hanging with fellow club supporters. Here in the states, you might find a Boca and River fan standing together in the supporters section but in Baires I'm not so sure.
ok...never knew that...so how do River fans view Maradona ? and what he did for the Argentina national team ?
I think if a person wears an MLS club team jersey, it's showing that he values US soccer and supports the national team. Now if queensnick shows up in his united kit, that'll be a different story. My idea will to be to put a US shirt on him, and drag him into el loco abuelo on Roosevelt avenue and make him watch the second half with some of our neighbors.
When it comes to the "la seleccion" he's god. When it comes to Boca-River, he's a crackhead. lol The passion hates you do weird things, love-hate. lol lol
I think that you are talking about "el abuelo gozon" lol lol lol lol I cant even imagine metrogo inside that spot watching a game! lol lol lol lol But to everyones relief the place is no longer there. lol lol
Well I plan on visiting the taco truck after the game on 40 street..one of the best in the city..I'll just make sure ..I'm watching them prepare the food..lol
Haha we'll go with the whole group. He will be less likely to mess with the food. And if he does we can just roll his cart onto Queens Blvd lololol.
Your correct, and it's not there anymore? I saw a few games there -- mostly SA WC qualifying, and always had a great time. I also saw US v. PEru and I have to tell you in all honesty, everyone was so nice to the three of us that it was almost embarassing. It was a great night. Mexico, I have a feeling, would be very much a different story.
i'm glad that they were nice. but when im there its usually to watch argentina or an argentine team and the feeling is feel amorous. there is always an a$$hole (on both sides that messes things up) but overall its a fun time. I know the owner of chibcha but they flipped that place into a club now. I just saw the construction the other day. He had all kinds of antennas to watch games from all over the world. Ill never forget the Arg Nigeria olympics final in 96. I've never seen so many Nigerians in jackson heights in my life. lol
