No, not at all. Nothing to do with them. Everything to do with the feeling of malaise around the USMNT right now.
Haha. My understanding is that B.S. (before Sunil ) the position was more of a figure head type appointment. Sunil is the one who has turned it into a position of power.
Eventually, of course that's right. But if Sunil is a dead man walking, do we want him to be making the long-term financial commitment for a coach for the next cycle? There's no rush to hire the manager for the 2022 cycle. If the clean break comes in May 2018, so be it. All we're doing in the meantime is playing some meaningless friendlies. Arena's head needs to roll right now. And the last thing we want is for, say, Tab Ramos to Gareth Southgate his way into the permanent job by beating Slovenia in a friendly and having the MLS bootlicker media wage a campaign for him. Sarachan would be a stopgap caretaker and everyone would recognize that.
You want cash? Bring in experienced industry marketing and sales executives. I am sure they know how make more money than Gulati ever will. CEOs don't need to be the accountant, lawyer, marketing, econ, sales, etc. guy. They have visions and strategic plans, and surround themselves with best talents to execute them.
Not necessarily. Just answering your question. At this point we are already established enough to get a nice income.
So everyone would be fine with BA staying around until WC ends and calling up Zusi, Wondo, Beaz, etc for 9 more months? Not Me!
Or Tab...although the issue with a similar issue to what you sometimes see with interim coaches in college football, that would be that if he puts together a couple friendly wins there may be pressure to keep him as the full time coach rather than more qualified candidates. There wouldn't be that pressure with Sarachan, so he may be a safer choice for interim.
I want Ernie Stewart to be the new director of US Soccer. Dude is smart, dedicated and I love the Dutch developmental system and I think it would be the easiest to adapt to the US.
Because I don't want anything to do with blustering blowhard who couldn't formulate a tactical gameplan even after being told what to do by Pep Gaurdiola.
I thought that Arena's contract only ran until we were eliminated from 2018... I have seen no official confirmation of that. Anyhow, I think it is pretty obvious that he is done, so I'm not so worked up if it happens today or in a week.
So Im reading that Sunil has some kind of conference call with the press at 11 AM tomorrow. Hard to believe that the topic of Arena won't come up. It will be interesting to see if he tries to defend him or throws him under the bus. One has to think that if he tries to defend him, the backlash will only further hasten Sunil's own departure. His only shot of survival is if he fires Arena in the next few days. It should have happened already and it may be too late for him already. $$$$$$ talks and at this point, the interest level in the WC in the USA has to be fading. We tend to not care much when we're not involved. There has to be major business interests that have invested in a USA at the WC product that are now holding a bad investment. US Soccer needs to do something to get people interested again and a new, name coach, would go a long way. Arena will not get it done and people will never forgive him for dropping the ball
Countdown is over. Arena quit and does have some honor left. Sunil on the has yet to do the right thing

No chance in hell he steps down. He's riding on the 2026 bid. He wants to right the ship. You guys are crazy if you think he's gonna resign. Up for re-election in Feb anyhow.
