With all the talk (especially after the Holland game) about 4-4-2 vs. 3-5-2, I'm wondering if maybe we should try something else instead.

    No, not the 3-6-1...:D

    A 5-3-2.

    Something like this...

Three center backs - Pope, Gibbs, and Bocanegra

Two wingbacks - Reyna and O'Brien

Two outside mids - Beasley and Convey

    One attacking mid - Mathis

Two forwards - Donovan and McBride

we need a strong central midfield presence - besides putting to many people wide would just take away space from guys like DMB, lewis, convey & donovan

i think we should try the formation HOLLAND used to pound scotland, we could fill that out pretty decently

Why would you take the two best possession midfielders in the US lineup and make them wingbacks?

For exactly that reason...they are the two best posession players we have...give them the responsibility of bringing the ball up out of the back.

But you are essentially limiting their options to half of the field.
