    I was just thinking the other night:

    What if this whole Southlake thing turns out to be a phenomenal success. CISD is happy, Hunt Sports is happy, everyone is happy.

    Is there a chance that Hunt Sports goes to CISD and works a deal with them to "Lockhartize" Dragon Stadium?

    The fact of the matter is that if you do the following things at Dragon Stadium

    * put in a grass field

    * increase capacity

    * put in some luxury boxes

    * put in more parking

    * figure out some way to see beer at the stadium

    it's no worse than the Frisco stadium. They're both about the same distance from Dallas and they'd both have the whole "sharing a stadium with -- gasp -- high school football" issue. But I could see it being a bit cheaper to enhance Dragon Stadium than it would to build a completely new place in Frisco.

    And if things were working out fabulously for both sides, I could also see CISD coughing up some money to help out with the project.

    As long as there's beer and grass, I'm up for anything!

    Given all that, I am fine with that.

    My sister would hate it because she lives 10 minutes away in Trophy Club and so a lot of pre-game drinking would happen at her place. (The 3:00 soccer saturday game on tv)

    That said, I don't ever see beer being sold IN the stadium as long as it is on school property.

    Its not the location of the stadium that bothers me other than it is located on school property and the rules that go along with that.

    I haven't driven by it yet - is the high school next door or is this a stand alone stadium?

    Anyone know how Lockhart worked out on beer sales etc? The Philly Eagles played for years at Franklin Field (a college stadium). There must be other examples out there.

    Conspiracy theories come alive

    Allegedly, a sign no further than 600 yards away from the stadium is promoting that the land right next to the stadium is the future home of 20 soccer fields of the Southlake Soccer Association.

    Sounds suspiciously familiar, no?

    How big is Southlake eventually supposed to get? If the stadium will continue to be the home field for just 1 high school team, a grass field would work great.

    But if Southlake is to eventually have 3+ high schools like Frisco will in 5-10 years time, they'd have to stick with the artificial turf.

    I saw on TV the other day how hard it is for Carroll fans to get tickets to their football games. There's a waiting list for season tickets and folks typically have to wait 1 to 2 years before they're able to purchase tickets.

    I'd imagine Southlake would love to have a 15,000+ capacity stadium, and an HSG/Carroll ISD partnership to expand the stadium could end up working great for both sides.

    There is a distinct possibility SLC could become permanent. If Frisco begins to balk at paying certain costs, the Burn could use Dragon stadium as leverage. This is all contingent on being profitable at SLC. Do I think this will happen? No. However, in negotiations you keep all options open. I just wish the Burn had ideas on building the stadium in Grapevine. Frisco is a pretty long haul for most.

    Huh? What is this statement based on? Every location in the metroplex would be close for some and far for others. I would bet that there are as many Burn fans in Collin County as there are in Tarrant county.
