Could Broome be trade bait?

Now that Dallas has added Sayler, someone who can play at left back, does anyone think that maybe the Burn could trade a valuable player like Broome to get that "big time" forward they seem to really need?

Gbandi and Sayler seem a bit raw. Plus Broome can play in the midfield as well, but it looks like Dallas will have trouble enough finding time for Chivas and Davis to get PT.

Broome's trade value is very high right now, would Jefferies be willing to gamble at this time? He might be able to score someone like Eskandarian with a Broome trade.....and since Esky is a P-40, then Jefferies might be able to add that SI striker he is also looking for.

Also, DC doesn't have the cap room to exchange a P40 player for someone who would count against the cap.

The only way that a trade of Broome for a "big name" forward would work is if the team was trading a forward who counted a lot on the cap (and was attracted to the value of creating some cap room).

Even then, I"m not sure who that candidate would be. Stoichkov? The only other "forward" candidate with DCU is Stewart--all the other strikers probably make less money than Broome and thus the deal wouldn't be do-able.

Chicago with Razov or Faria? Even then, they've got lots of defensive depth. KC with Wolff (again, good defensive depth). NE? They wouldn't want Broome but an attacking outside mid (Davis, Chivas) I'd guess--even then, they wouldn't want to part with JMM or Twellman. The only real candidate I could see would be Columbus (with the return of McBride and emergence of Buddle, leaving Cunningham on the bench for now). Even then, they've got lots of bodies on the backline.

Dallas could always bring back Dante, though they're probably not interested.

Still, the initial point is a good one. The Burn have a lot of depth on the left side with Broome, Gbandi, Martinez and Davis. More than anyone in the league. They could dangle someone for a forward if they were so inclined.

Lets do it! Take everyone to school the old fashion way with an attacking combo of Kreis and Dante!

I'm a big fan of Dante Washington--a class act and a great guy. He is now out of MLS and has signed with the Virginia Mariners (Norfolk) in the A League. They've actually got some fair attacking talent there--Antonio Otero (DCU and Miami), Roy Lassiter and now Dante. Frankly, I was very surprised that San Jose didn't go for him--he'd pair up quite nicely with Donovan. It's a shame to see Dante out of MLS.
